She volunteered and worked at the museum Greenlees Children’s Fund in 2000 with the children's clay classes, then later as Jena Crim's assistant. She was a delightfully sweet person and a wonderful wife and mother. Her husband, Tom, found her in their Austin home, where she apparently died of a brain aneurysm. Their new baby, Charlotte, was named by her brother, Austin, after our own Charlotte Wrather. Two days later, Tom took his own life. It is with great sadness that we let you know of the deaths of Kristina (Finley) Greenlees on September 10, 2008 and her husband Tom Greenlees on September 12, 2008. They leave three children, Austin, age 7, Ginny, age 3, and Charlotte, age 5 months. Kristina was the daughter of Rob and Sandy Finley of Urbana, IL, and Tom was the son of Hub Greenlees of New Braunfels, TX and Susan Carter, of Tyler, Texas. Kris and Tom were in the process of moving from Tyler to Austin, Texas when these tragic events took place. In addition to her parents, Kristina is survived by her sister, Jessica, and Jessica's husband Matthew Thompson and daughters Graciella and Marisol, and her grandmother, Irene Finley. Kristina was born on July 5, 1973, in Columbia, S.C. She graduated from Bowie H.S. in Austin and attended the University of Texas, changing her major from journalism to nursing, and finally to what she really loved-art. She married Tom on December 20, 1996, in a beautiful ceremony on a very windy, rainy day. She worked for a time at the Longview Museum of Art as an outreach educator, working with 5th grade students to create clay masks. After Austin was born, she became a stay-at-home mother. She will be remembered for the wonderful stories she told about the children in her almost daily phone calls to her parents. She truly brought joy to all of those who knew her and was caring beyond measure. We are taking care of the kids in their Austin home with the help and love of family and friends. A fund has been established for the support of the children. Donations may be mailed to Greenlees Children's Fund, Bank of America, 911 W. 38th St., Austin, TX 78705. Checks should be payable to Robert Finley with Greenlees Children's Fund 586011411144 in the memo line. 18 Rob and Sandy Finley finley@isgs.illinois.edu
