Harrington is reaching out into
the community as we never
have before. We are adding
primary care and specialty
physicians in new satellite offices, and we are adding
medical office buildings, such as Harrington
HealthCare at Charlton, which now houses MRI
services and which in a few months will bring lab
services, wound care, physical therapy, primary care
and specialty physicians closer to our patients in
Charlton and surrounding communities.
We are also reaching out to the community through a
number of community events. We are developing
relationships as well developing buildings.
Harrington recently was a sponsor of the Dudley Little
League. The hospital also has been setting up booths
and doing community outreach at the Webster
Fireworks on July 3rd, the Grand Master’s Fair in
Charlton, and the SouthbridgeFEST this summer. We
are sponsoring business gatherings through the
Chamber of Commerce and the Webster/Dudley
Business Alliance. We are continuing to hold the
educational events and screenings that have been
central to our hospital. Harrington also is becoming
involved in large, regional events, such as our
sponsorship of the Danskin Triathlon held at Webster
Lake. The event on July 26th, which drew thousands
of spectators and 3,500 athletes, was part of a
nationwide Danskin Triathlon series.
Being a local presence at events throughout our
service area is an integral part of providing Total
Local Care and commitment.

New Doctors Arriving at Harrington
New doctors are arriving at our Harrington HealthCare system – to staff our satellite offices, work
in the Hospitalist Program, Emergency Care Center, Psychiatry Department and in specialties
such as General Surgery.
“We are bringing doctors closer to our patients by opening and staffing satellite offices in the
communities,” said Harrington CEO Ed Moore. “An analysis of the region shows the need for additional
primary care and specialty physicians including Family Practice, Psychiatry and General Surgery.”
Harrington Physician Services Welcomes Jeffrey Cohen
Harrington Physician Services is pleased to announce the addition of Jeffrey
Cohen, M.D., to its Webster practice location. Dr. Cohen is Board Certified in
Family Practice and brings many years of experience providing quality, compassionate
care to Webster-area patients. Harrington looks forward to partnering
with him to enhance primary care services in the area. He will begin Sept. 1 in
a newly renovated suite on the Harrington HealthCare at Hubbard campus.
Dr. Cohen is a graduate of New York Medical College, a member of the
American Board of Family Practice and most recently served as a Family Practice Physician at
the Fallon Clinic’s Webster and Auburn locations. “Jeff is not only a vital asset to Harrington’s
medical staff, but a true comfort to the Webster community,” said Harrington CEO Ed Moore
“We recognize the significance of more primary care physicians in the area, and bringing Dr.
Cohen to HPS is just another way we allow the community to receive Total Local Care.”
– FAMILY PRACTICE –
Asma Islam, M.D., M.P.H., on Aug. 17 will join Junjie Fang, M.D., as a family practice physician at the Harrington
Physician Services office at 61 N. Main St., Charlton. She has completed her residency in Family Medicine at the
Family Medicine SUNY Health Science Centre at Brooklyn, N.Y. She is accepting patients of all ages. For an

– GENERAL SURGERY –
Two new HPS surgeons will start in August and September, growing a practice that includes HPS General Surgeons
Ravindra Acharya, M.D. and Harry Easterly, M.D. The new surgeons are:
Eric Koch, M.D., who was Attending Surgeon at the Eastern Connecticut Health Network, Manchester Memorial
Hospital in Manchester, Conn. He received his degree in medicine at the College of Medicine at State University of
New York at Brooklyn. Dr. Koch did his postdoctoral training at New York Methodist Hospital.
John Christopher Lohlun, M.D., currently an attending general surgeon at Metrowest Medical Center, in
Framingham. He received his medical degree from University of Witwatersrand Medical School, Johannesburg, South
Africa, and did his fellowship in Surgical Critical Care at Westchester Medical Center in Calhalla, New York.
– EMERGENCY CARE CENTER –
Nicholas Andrew Itzin, M.D., is a new member of the Emergency Care Center. Dr. Itzin did his residency in
emergency medicine at the University of Massachusetts in Worcester. He received his degree in medicine from the
University of Minnesota. Also joining the Emergency Care Center part-time is Thomas Pedro Goldberger, M.D.,
F.A.C.E.P., an attending physician in the Emergency Department at Whidden Memorial Hospital in Everett. Dr.
Goldberger received his degree in medicine from Tufts University in Medford.
– HOSPITALIST –
Harrington’s Hospitalist Program, which celebrates its first anniversary in August, is working to expand its day shift
coverage by staffing two physicians along with nurse practitioners to accommodate the growing patient census on
the Hospitalist Service. The Program consists of physicians and nurse practitioners who manage the care of patients
admitted to the Hospital.
Two new physicians are joining the Hospitalist Program. Dorota K. Poluha, M.D., Ph.D., and Robert J. Fitzpatrick,
D.O., will work on a part-time basis starting in September. Dr. Poluha currently works full-time in the Northeast
Hospitals Corporation Hospitalist Service in Beverly. She received her degree in medicine from the Medical Academy
in Lublin, Poland. Dr. Fitzpatrick currently practices as a family practitioner in West Brookfield. He holds his degree in
osteopathic medicine from the University Of New England College Of Osteopathic Medicine in Biddeford, Maine.
– PSYCHIATRY –
Momen El Nesr, M.D., former Medical Director of Psychiatric Services at The Aroostook Medical Center in Northern,
Maine, will join Harrington as Medical Director of Inpatient Psychiatric Services. He is board certified in psychiatry by
the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and received his medical training in academic and private clinical
settings in the U.S., U.K. and Egypt.

New Webster Phone System,
Other Tech Projects in the Works
The first phase of the new phone and voicemail
system is up and running at Harrington. The Webster
campus will be transitioned to the new phone
system on September 8th. The second phase
includes an auto appointment reminder and will be
available in the next few months.
There are some exciting new technology projects in
the works at Harrington. The first phase of the
scanning and archiving software is being rolled out
this summer. Patient insurance cards and orders will
now be viewable through Meditech. More of the
patient medical record will be available electronically
through the scanning product later this year.

Webster Campus Sponsors Danskin Triathlon
Harrington HealthCare at Hubbard was the official local sponsor of the 2009 Danskin New
England Triathlon. Held every year at Memorial Beach in Webster, the Danskin is the largest and
longest running triathlon series in the world. The event consists of a half-mile swim, 12-mile bike
ride and 5K run.
Celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, the Danskin New England Tri was held Sunday, July 26.
Harrington HealthCare at Hubbard took part in the Pre-Event Expo Saturday, July 25 at the
Worcester DCU Center, with Harrington Physical Therapist Mary Dona offering a brief speech to
the athletes on race preparation. We also had representation inside the Medical Tent the day of
the race, with Emergency Care Center Nurse Manager Marsha Woodard, Chief of the Hospitalist
Program/Interim Chief of the Emergency Care Center Court Stephens and Orthopedic Specialist
John Arsenault serving as the attending medical team. They worked alongside Webster EMS
paramedics, tending to participants who sought care before, during or after the race.
As part of the Harrington HealthCare at Hubbard sponsorship, Danskin offered slots in the race,
free of registration charges. Jessica Frink, who works in Medical Records in Webster, and Elizabeth
Ortiz, who is an employee of G.B. Wells in Southbridge – joined 3,500 other athletes to compete in
this amazing event.
Harrington Mammography
Passes DPH Inspection
Harrington Hospital’s Mammography Department
has passed the yearly inspection
by the Department of Public Health. “I am
so proud of the Mammography staff at
Harrington for consistently receiving accolades
and high marks for service and
quality of care,” said Ed Moore, President
and CEO. “It is one more way we express
our commitment to providing our communities
with Total Local Care.”
Inpatient, Outpatient Behavioral Under
One Administrative Umbrella
Don Brechner Named Executive Director of
Behavioral Health Services
Don Brechner has been appointed Executive Director of
Behavioral Health Services, effective mid-July. The appointment
places Harrington’s Inpatient and Outpatient departments under
one administrative structure. He had been Executive Director of
Harrington’s G.B. Wells Human Services Center. He will continue
to report to Douglas Crapser, Chief Operating Officer.

Said Brechner, “Peggy Skowron, Vice President of Nursing Services and Chief Nursing Officer, and I
will be working to bring both Inpatient and Outpatient Behavioral Health Services under one
umbrella. My role will be as financial administrator of Inpatient and Outpatient.” Brechner has a
Masters degree in clinical psychology and a Masters of Business Administration.
