2008-2009
Annual Report
president's LETTER
From bolstering the strength of our
endowment, to watching students
enjoy the physical upgrades to the
building, the success of this targeted
eff ort, par cularly during these
challenging economic mes, is a
testament to the strength of our Sku
Catholic community.
Happy New Year!
It is hard to believe that another
year has come and gone and
now we’re in 2010. Although in
2009 we saw many accomplishments,
I’m excited for a new year
with the Sku Catholic Alumni
Associa on.
My name is Ma Nelson
and I am currently serving as
the president of the Alumni
Associa on at Sku Catholic. A er about six months in the
posi on, I have had the opportunity to interact with many of
my fellow alumni and have seen our assoccia on grow within
these changing mes.
With a new year just beginning, it is an exci ng me for the
SC Alumni Associa on. This month, we will be gathering to
take a closer look at the func on, mission, and structure of
our organiza on. Since its humble beginnings in 2003, the
Alumni Associa on has provided programs, contacts, and other
services to the alumni of Sku Catholic. With over seven years
gone by, not only has the school changed drama cally, but so
too have the needs of our alumni.
One of the changes that you will no ce is a diff erence in the
ming of the all-alumni get-together. This past summer, the
Associa on held an all-alumni event at South Pacifi c Pool. We
had a wonderful  me poolside on a warm summer evening;
however, in an eff ort to revitalize the meaning of homecoming,
Despite the economic challenges of the
past year, Sku Catholic realizes that it
relies heavily on the fi nancial support of its
many cons tuents in order to keep tui on
as low as possible and con nue to grow an
already solid program. In addi on, fi nancial
support to the school has also been cri cal this
past year so as to allow us to off er fi nancial
assistance to families in need. To this point,
Sku Catholic awarded more than $500,000
in fi nancial aid to families in need this school
year. Several SC families were not immune to
the layoff s occurring throughout the state, but
their children have been able to con nue at
SC due to the work-study program that exists.
The many fi nancial gi s that come into Sku
Catholic through the Annual Appeal, Angel
Flight, or the many other advancement eff orts
help make the work study program a fi nancial
reality.
In addi on, over the past ten months,
Sku Catholic has embarked on a “Targeted
Eff ort” campaign to help raise funds for several
projects on campus, in addi on to simply
helping us meet our opera ng needs. The
ini a ves that were supported fi nancially from
this eff ort were derived from input received
through the 2006 Strategic Planning process as
well as through a feasibility study conducted
in the late summer of 2008. In par cular, we
sought to raise funds for our endowment,
expansion of the fi tness facility, and improving
the quality of the performing arts space in the
Commons. We set a goal of $500,000 with
hopes of exceeding that goal. By October of
2009, we successfully passed the half million
mark with targeted eff ort pledges.
Restricted pledges/gi s alone ($123,700)
alumni board president's LETTER
towards the fi tness facility expansion helped
us fully fund that endeavor. As most are
aware, we now have an addi onal 1,000 sq.
feet of space and nearly all new equipment.
We expanded the fi tness facility by 50% by
expanding into the building. The faculty lounge
and an offi ce conference room were relocated
within the building to make room for the
fi tness expansion. The facility is a tremendous
improvement over the previous fi tness area.
On the performing arts ini a ve, $100,100
has been pledged. We have already completed
an overhaul of the sound and ligh ng systems
in the Commons area, where our performing
art produc ons are held. Having recently
watched this year’s musical, Crazy For You, with
the new sound and ligh ng, I can say fi rsthand
that the diff erence is amazing. We are in
the process of ge ng bids on some minor
construc on around the stage and new sea ng,
as well. We’ll con nue to make upgrades with
the performing arts area throughout the school
year.
Restricted pledges/gi s totaling $105,875
were made to our endowment, and $234,625
in pledges/gi s were unrestricted to the
targeted eff ort. The fi nance and advancement
commi ees of the Board of Directors will
be mee ng to discuss alloca on of the
unrestricted funds. Gi s totaling $33,000 were
also made to support fi nancial aid and build a
handicapped ramp inside the main entrance of
the school.
From bolstering the strength of our
endowment, to watching students enjoy the
physical upgrades to the building, the success
of this targeted eff ort, par cularly during these
challenging economic mes, is a testament to
the decision was made to move this all-alumni event to the
Friday evening of the 2010 Homecoming football game. The
date for this event has yet to be determined, but be sure to
keep an eye out for more informa on.
Another event to keep your eyes peeled for is the Class of
2000 Ten Year Reunion. It will be held over the Memorial Day
weekend, Friday, May 28 and Saturday, May 29. If you’re a
2000 grad and are interested in helping plan the fes vi es,
please contact Lucy Smith at (402) 333-0818 or lcsmith@
schools.archomaha.org.
Even with these changes, the focus of the associa on is
unwavering: the bo om line is that the SC Alumni Associa on
is here for you! You can fi nd more informa on about the
associa on on Facebook [search: Sku Catholic Alumni].
Also, I’d like to extend an open invita on to join the Alumni
Associa on. We welcome any interested alums who would like
to help out, plan events, and forge new pathways for the SC
community.
Please do not hesitate to contact me via email at
ma_nelson@cox.net if you have any ques ons, concerns, new
ideas, or even if you want to be more involved with the Alumni
Associa on.
Thanks for your con nued support!
the strength of our Sku Catholic community.
Also a testament to the strength of this
community is the countless number of hours
so many families have volunteered to Sku
Catholic to help with one of the many ac vi es
that benefi t the staff or students. Whether it
be with one’s wealth, work, or wisdom, that
which is given to support Sku Catholic has led
to our rise as a leader in Catholic educa on.
This edi on of Our Legacy also includes the
2008-2009 Annual Report. If the enclosed
data/informa on creates any addi onal
ques ons for you, please do not hesitate to
contact me. Sku Catholic prides itself with
opera ng with extreme fi nancial effi ciency as
evidenced by our actual cost to educate versus
the tui on that is charged. In addi on, we
con nue to off er students more: more courses,
more ac vi es, more opportuni es, but we do
this with a lower cost than our compe tors.
Knowing full well that families make a
tremendous fi nancial sacrifi ce to send their
children to Sku Catholic, we work diligently to
ensure that every dollar is properly invested in
strengthening our program.
God bless you and your family as we
con nue to move through 2010. I hope the
new year brings you many blessings!
Sincerely,
Patrick Sla ery
at the Homecoming game
fantas c season UNDER THE LIGHTS
Whether it is an athletic venue, a
mock trial debate, or a high school
musical, our students, teachers,
coaches and staff take great pride
in creating exceptional results.
It was a fantas c season for the SkyHawks.
The fi rst game in Nebraska City foretold the
story. The boys dominated the game and our
student fan base got the crowd on their toes.
That night the Nebraska City VISITORS student
sec on was fi lled with SC students---students
who drove an hour down H-75 or I-29 to
a end the game. They were clad in green and
enthusias cally followed the chants of the
SC cheerleaders. Several fairly well-known
male senior SkyHawks added to the spirited
atmosphere. Ned Koley from the swim team,
Andy Hollins a state champion wrestler,
James Hajek a 6’ 7” basketball standout,
Mike Guinane, a star ng point guard, David
Go schalk, an ou ielder on the baseball team,
and Will Gross from the SC debate team,
wore Sku Catholic uniform skirts, carried
SC fl ags and worked the sidelines. They got
no ced. They pumped up the crowd. But more
importantly, they sent a loud message to their
friends on the football team---we know what
it takes to be a champion and we’re here to
support you!
That spirit permeated the en re fall semester.
It was contagious. Every SC ac vity took on a
heightened sense of excitement. Dancing in
the Halls, Under the Lights, the Pep Rallies, the
Mr. SkyHawk contest, the State appearances
in Cross Country, So ball, Girls Golf, and
Volleyball, the school musical Crazy for You, the
“green out” at our Mock Trial state qualifying
meet---each ac vity found our SC students
showing remarkable school pride and support
for one another.
Congratulations SkyHawks
A Total Team Effort!
While congratula ons go to the SkyHawk
varsity football team who provided fans with an
en re season of memorable games, there are
so many others that make our success possible:
• To the coaches for inspiring greatness in
each player
• To the volunteers who man the
concessions
• To the band director and the band
members for playing with heart and soul
• To Student Council’s theme nights
• To the Art Society’s face pain ng
• To the dance team’s hal ime shows
• To the cheerleaders for crea ng a fes ve
FAN atmosphere
• To the grounds crew who make our
campus shine
• To the teachers and staff who work the
gates
• To the chain gang men that walk the lines
• To the trainers who prep players each
prac ce and care for the injured
• To the press box announcer and his
plethora of pithy euphuisms
• To those who capture each moment on
fi lm
• To the web announcer who delivers live
feeds
• To those who clean the bleachers a er
Christian Dudzik '10 at Memorial Stadium
each victory
• To the Ac vi es Director, who arrives
early and stays late to lock-up, a er
everyone else hurries to catch the 10 p.m.
sport highlights
• To the administrators, who monitor the
student sec on as well as the surrounding
sport fi elds fi lled with roaming middle
school students
around SCHS
Ned Koley '10 goes green
• To the parent football boosters who hold
pasta feeds and steak fries and pregame
tailgates
• To the photographers, the Flightline
writers, and the graphic ar st for
supplying pictures, ar cles and posters
• To the sophomore and junior players who
wait on the sideline for their chance to
shine and then gave us a hopeful view of
teams to come
And fi nally to the senior members of the
football team…to Turner Mead for several
fabulous kick-off s, fi eld goals, and an equal
number of tackles, to Myles Jablonski and
Jacob Smith for their ability to catch the ball
and run like the wind, to Will Lanik, Kyle
Pokorny and Corey Stringer for advancing
the ball up fi eld and stopping an opponent
headed down fi eld, to Tyler Friend, Sid Rai, and
Spenser Masching for their incredibly quick and
targeted tackles, to Jake LaMon a, Nick Meyer,
Joe Vonnahme and Alex Kaster, for magically
appearing at cri cal moments to make a headsup
play. To the members of the line - Chris
Lokey, Jake Hasz, Jon Keck, Brandon Engel,
Travis and Corey Homan for providing the Great
Wall of Protec on on off ense and the Rushing
Wall of Destruc on on defense. And fi nally
to Chris an Dudzik, for breaking nearly every
passing, rushing, and tackling sta s c in the
SC record books. These young men provided
an abundance of free adver sing for Sku
Catholic High School, the kind that money can’t
buy. With pictures and ar cles plastered over
the sports page every Saturday, they showed
the Omaha community that Sku Catholic is
commi ed to excellence.
State Appearance
The SkyHawks earned the right to play in
Memorial Stadium on November 24. The
stats revealed a ght game; many stats
indicated that Sku Catholic outplayed their
opponent. But at the end of the evening,
the Class B state tle was given to the Aurora
Huskies. The result wasn’t what we predicted.
But nonetheless, as Coach Turman draped
the second place medals over each player,
proud parents, administrators, teachers and
coaches clapped, while a cornucopia of student
SkyHawk fans con nued to cheer for their
friends and classmates. It was a fantas c
season Under the Lights.

Professional Learning Communi es Focus on Good
Old Common Sense Solu ons
Within the Omaha Metro area the term
“learning community” is certainly a
conversa on starter which carries with it a
poli cal charge. However, the concept of a
learning community is nothing new to the
fi eld of educa on, a profession that requires
constant collabora on between teachers,
students, parents, administrators and the
community at large. Eff ec ve schools and
school systems embrace the proverb, “It
takes a village to raise a child,” and they work
relessly to build suppor ve communi es.
Sku Catholic is certainly a learning
community – a place where students and
teachers, families and friends, community
members and visitors feel a tangible sense
of caring and welcome, faith and learning,
excitement and success. However, there is
always room to improve, there are always
ways to grow and become stronger. For
this reason Sku Catholic has embraced
the Professional Learning Community (PLC)
model of school improvement.
The PLC model can be described as a return
to good old common sense. In our current
day of constant educa onal reform and
persistent debate on innumerable theories of
learning, the PLC school improvement model
asks schools to center their a en on on four
very tangible ques ons regarding student
learning:
• What knowledge and skills should every
student acquire as a result of this school,
this department, this course, this unit of
instruc on, and this lesson?
• How will we know when each student has
acquired the essen al knowledge and skills?
• How will we respond when some students
do not learn?
• How will we respond when some students
have clearly achieved the intended
outcomes?
Working as small collabora ve groups during
every late start school day, Sku Catholic
faculty members have started the process
of defi ning and refi ning essen al learning
outcomes. In future years each PLC will
be establishing valid internal assessment
systems to measure student learning, as
well as crea ng systems of enrichment and
extension for students who require a boost
or an added challenge in order to meet their
poten al.
In addi on to this important curriculum
work, Sku Catholic has also organized
every staff member into a PLC group to
study and enhance the school’s vision,
mission and daily prac ce. PLCs dedicated
to major components of Sku Catholic
such as: Catholic Iden ty, Vision and
Mission, Teaching and Learning, Classroom
Management and Discipline, Recruitment,
have been researching best prac ce and
developing new strategies for improvement.
Several groups have already piloted
improvement strategies and have felt the
synergy of working collabora vely for the
be erment of the school and for the benefi t
of our students.
PLC literature states, “Working together to
build shared knowledge on the best way to
achieve goals and meet the needs of clients
is exactly what professionals in any fi eld are
expected to do” (www.allthingsplc.com).
Through our eff orts as a Professional Learning
Community, the faculty and staff of Sku
Catholic embrace the challenge of improving
our ability to meet the needs of our students
so they can achieve their poten al as
students, ci zens, and members of the Faith
community.
SkyHawk Soccer Enjoys New Prac ce Field
The Sku Catholic High School
campus just got a li le bit
greener. Royal Field, a new prac ce
soccer fi eld on the southwest corner
of the school's property, is ready to go
soccer programs. It meets one of the
school's visionary needs as six teams
were compe ng for prac ce and
playing me on just two fi elds. This
was all made possible through the
philanthropic eff ort of Sku Catholic
parents, Sco and Trish Royal.
Boys soccer coach, Rob Meyers,
says the new fi eld will add to the
fl exibility and quality performance
of each prac ce and game. "With
six teams, our space for prac ce was
the Sku Catholic student-athletes
at all levels. The extra space will also
help reduce wear and tear on our
prac ce fi elds as football also uses
them in the fall. We
are extremely grateful
to the Royal family
for their generous
contribu on."
A ribbon cu ng
ceremony will take
place in March before
the season begins
to honor the Royals
and open the gates
to the fi eld. "Both
of our children have
grown spiritually and
academically at Sku
Catholic High School.
In our son's freshman
year he tried out for
the soccer team and made varsity.
Even though in his fi rst year he had
limited playing me he learned a lot
about the integrity and tradi ons of
the Sku Catholic soccer program. It
has been our joy to watch Tay become
part of that traditon. A er being
around the premier program for four
years we are honored to be able to
give back and help those tradi ons
con nue."
The accomplishments by our studentathletes
have been made possible
by the coaches' high standards of
excellence, along with the fi elds and
facili es to prac ce as a team. Thanks
to the Royal family, the Sku Catholic
campus has created space needed
to give our student-athletes more
prac ce opportuni es to hone their
soccer skills. Let's play!
2008-2009
Annual Report
The things that are most important to us are
brought into focus when we are faced with
challenges. I o en stress to my children that the
most important things in our lives are our faith and
our family. For my family, as for many others, Sku
Catholic High School has become an important part
of both. Sku Catholic has helped my children to
grow in and live out their faith in a very forma ve
me of their lives. It has allowed us to journey together
through their high school years as part of the
incredible community that is the Sku Catholic family. What a blessing Sku Catholic
has been and con nues to be for us and for so many students and families!
The economic challenges of this past year have required Sku Catholic to focus on
the most effi cient use of resources possible while con nuing to provide an excellent
high school experience for our students in an environment that enables them to grow
academically, spiritually, and personally. Sku Catholic has not only con nued to fulfi ll
this mission, but through wise stewardship and the generosity of many Sku Catholic
families, improvements were made to the facili es and funds were added to the
school’s endowment. The faculty and administra on are to be commended for all that
was accomplished in a very challenging year!
On behalf of the Sku Catholic Board, I off er sincere thanks to all of the faculty, staff ,
administra on, parents, alumni, and supporters of Sku Catholic High School whose
sacrifi ces and commitment have made Sku Catholic the tremendous school that it is.
Sincerely,
Did you know.....that beyond the
tradi onal Na onal Honor Society,
Sku Catholic also recognizes
students in the art and school theatre
programs through the Na onal
Art Society and the Interna onal
Thespian Society.
The SkyHawk chapter of the Na onal
Art Honor Society inducted 37 new
members. Graphic Designer, John
Gawley, SCHS graduate of 2002,
gave an inspiring talk encouraging
the students to use their crea vity
to solve problems and make the
world a be er place. NAHS provides
opportuni es for Sku Catholic Art
students to share in extra-curricular
art ac vi es and service for the
school and the community. A recent
service opportunity allowed students
to par cipate in The Memory Project
in which they painted portraits of
orphans from various parts of the
world. These portraits are then sent
to the orphans, and our Chapter also
donates funds that directly help these
children.
The Interna onal Thespian Society
(ITS), an honorary group for middle
and high school theatre students, is
a division of the Educa onal Theatre
Associa on (EdTA). The mission of
ITS is to honor student excellence in
the theatre arts. Students who have
excelled in theatre by working more
than 100 hours on two or more stage
produc ons qualify for membership.
These students work towards growing
awareness of theatre possibili es
and promo ng the theatrical arts, in
addi on to service projects.
Did you know.....that 57 students
serve as Extraordinary Ministers
of Holy Communion (EMHC's) and
Lectors at Sku Catholic.
These students apply to be an
EMHC or Lector at the end of their
sophomore year. Like so many of
our SC students, they are posi ve
role models and well-respected by
their peers, are comfortable sharing
their faith life with others, possess a
spirit of generosity and a willingness
to be of service to their community,
and are people of high moral
standards and personal values.
They minister at all-school Masses,
class Masses, on retreats, and in
their parishes. These students
a ended the Archdiocesan training
and manda on at St. Cecilia's
Cathedral in the fall, and Sku
Catholic typically has the largest
number of students serving in this
capacity compared to the other
Catholic high schools!

Did you know.....that since 1998, the
Siemens Founda on, in partnership
with the College Board, has recognized
excellence in teaching AP math and
science through the Siemens Awards
for Advanced Placement.
In a recent le er from the Siemens
Founda on and the College Board's
Na onal Recogni on and Scholarship
Program, we were no fi ed that Sku
Catholic "has one of the highest
student success rates in Nebraska in
AP math, science, and technology
subjects." (September, 2009)
Did you know.....the Sku Catholic High
School speech and debate program
has earned signifi cant recogni on by
the Na onal Forensics League (NFL).
Because our chapter achieved "100
degrees" or more last year, it places
in the top 10% of all NFL chapters
na onwide!
According to the Na onal Forensics
League, only 485 schools in the na on
have achieved this honor. Sku
Catholic is the only Catholic school
in the state to have earned this
status. No other high school, public or
parochial, in Omaha has earned this
na onal dis nc on!
In this annual report, V.J. & Angela Sku Catholic High School gratefully acknowledges the many ways in which donors supported our school from July 1, 2008
through June 30, 2009. It is with a great deal of care and pride that we have prepared our donor list for this publica on. Please contact the Advancement Offi ce
at (402) 333-0818 if there are any omissions or misrepresenta ons.
Nearly 500 parents, alums, and other community members gathered for the V.J. & Angela
Sku Catholic High School annual fundraiser, Angel Flight, on Saturday, Sept. 19 , held
at the school. This year’s event, themed Passport to the World, raised more than $300,000,
ensuring that general opera ng expenses are met, while s ll supplemen ng the school’s
fi nancial aid program and technology fund. The evening began with cocktails and a silent
auc on at 5:30 p.m., followed by dinner and a live auc on at 7:30 p.m.
General chairs for this year’s event were Sku Catholic parents Kevin and Denise Bartels
and Kevin and Shari Munro. “We’re really excited by the overwhelming support from our
Sku Catholic parents, alumni and the Omaha community,” says Denise Bartels. “Even with
the economic recession, we had an outpouring of support for the fundraiser and had a very
successful event.”
New to the event was the recogni on of an outstanding alum, honoring a graduate that has
achieved dis nc on in his/her endeavors. John A. Fredrickson from the class of 2005 was
named as the 2009 Outstanding Alumni. (See separate ar cle.)
The school was once again transformed, by the incredible vision and eff orts of the Angel Flight
decora ons commi ee. Guest enjoyed the look and feel of a street market during the Silent
Auc on, before being escorted into an Indian-themed castle in the main gym for dinner from
Brandeis Catering, and the Live Auc on.
SC students assisted with a variety of aspects that evening. They served as valet parkers,
modeled jewelry, acted as tour guides, sold special raffl e ckets, manned the market store,
served as wait staff and auc on runners, performed a Moroccan–styled trumpet fanfare to
kick-off the dinner presenta on, helped guests load the cars at the end of the evening with
purchased auc on items, and showed up the following day to assist with clean-up ac vi es.
Sku Catholic -- Passport to the World,
nomina ons were sought for the fi rst
Sku Catholic Outstanding Alumni
Award. Seventeen special alums were
nominated by friends, family, and peers
as outstanding graduates who have
achieved dis nc on in their endeavors.
(See name of nominees listed below.)
These young people promote the
values of Sku Catholic, and serve as
an inspira on to others. Although
each nominee’s story is remarkable
in its own right, one young man’s
accomplishments reached a “world”
scale.
A er John Fredrickson graduated
from Sku Catholic in May of 2005, he
moved to New York City to a end New
York University's Silver School of Social
Work. During his sophomore year of
studies, John studied abroad in the
west African na on of Ghana. While there, he interned at the West Africa AIDS Founda on,
assis ng in a poster compe on at local schools to help reduce s gmas associated with
HIV/AIDS. Upon comple on of his studies, John extended his stay in Ghana to help pilot a
high school program in the annual Pan African Film Fes val, which highlights documentary
fi lms made by Africans throughout the world. He returned to NYC that fall to con nue his
studies. A er his junior year, he returned to Africa, but this me to the east African na on
of Tanzania, where he interned at an interna onal street children's home. While in Tanzania,
he advocated for and helped coordinate an ini a ve to have all of the children within the
organiza on tested for HIV. By the end of the summer, every single orphan within the
organiza on had been tested.
Upon John’s return to NYC, he secured an internship at Harlem United, a community-based
HIV/AIDS agency. He interned there for the remainder of his me at NYU, and was hired
by the agency upon his gradua on in May 2009. He was selected by NYU to represent the
gradua ng Social Work class on stage at the NYU commencement, where he received his
Bachelor’s of Science alongside Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. Today, John is a Columbia
University graduate student, where he is pursuing a Master’s of Science in Advanced Clinical
Social Work.
Sku Catholic congratulates John A. Fredrickson, Class of 2005, as the 2009 Outstanding
fall musical CRAZY FOR YOU
This last fall, the annual school musical produc on took a new
direc on. Sku Catholic alumni brought their talents and exper se
back to the stage to teach new theatre students.
For George & Ira Gershwin's Crazy for You®, the alumni assisted Mark
Schnitzler, theatre director, and Chris Storm, our new vocal director,
with set design and construc on, stage crew, and choreography. The
musical challenged the students to fully embrace classical musical
produc on numbers that included mul ple scenes, colorful costume
changes, choreography that ranged from ballet to tap, and with pu ng
all of it together while ac ng and singing.
This year's theatre season theme of "Eccentric Families" refers to the
funny, challenging, complex, o en strange, but oddly familiar families
that all of us belong to and learn from. We began the season with the
fall musical that contrasted the New York City and Deadrock, Nevada
families. In the city, life is about business, responsibility to duty, and
expecta on. In Deadrock, life is about working together and realizing
~ 14 ~
that everyone is a part of one, big family. It is a slight contrast in
the urban versus rural lives that we o en see today. Yet, we see
how someone from the city can fall in love with a western girl, and
how the folks in Deadrock do have higher aspira ons for the people
they can be. The musical is a compila on of Gershwin songs and
standards that were arranged around a new story in the 1990's.
They did not originally write this musical as we see it today. Instead,
an earlier musical, Show Girl, was updated to become the show we
hope that you enjoy today.
~ 15 ~
fall musical CRAZY FOR YOU
In many ways, the ideas of "family" and of the alumni taking
such an invested role in crea ng Crazy for You® go together.
Without the support, dedication, and commitment of Molly Jonas
(choreographer), David Larsen, Andy Thiele, and Cody Thielen (set
designers and construction), Alexandra Gilbert (stage crew lead),
and the numerous other alumni who gave back to the theatre
department during this musical, it would not have been the success
it was and our current students would not have learned as much as
they did.

McNeilized: To Inspire Passion
You might say our football team
was McNeilized this fall. The
boys played with passion, focus, and
heart; much to the delight of their
fellow students, parents and coaches.
One coach, in par cular, showed
keen insight on what mo vates and
inspires greatness in 16, 17, and 18
year old males - thick, juicy steaks on
the grill. A hearty supply of Nebraska
beef, was supplied nearly every
week, courtesy of Coach Barney
McNeil.
Coach Barney McNeil and his wife
Julie are current SC parents. Their
daughter Alli is a sophomore. Their
son Andy was a member of the
2005 State Championship football
team. Daughter Melissa is a 2008
SC graduate. Barney has been an
assistant volunteer coach for three of
the past four years.
