System Requirements
Motor life
Motor life is a function of speed, system pressure, and other system parameters (such as
fluid quality and cleanliness).
All Turolla OCG gear motors use hydrodynamic journal bearings that have an oil film
maintained between the gear/shaft and bearing surfaces at all times. If the oil film
is sufficiently sustained through proper system maintenance and operating within
recommended limits, long life can be expected.
B 10
life expectancy number is generally associated with rolling element bearings.
It does not exist for hydrodynamic bearings.
High pressure impacts motor life. When submitting an application for review, provide
machine duty cycle data that includes percentages of time at various loads and speeds.
We strongly recommend a prototype testing program to verify operating parameters
and their impact on life expectancy before finalizing any system design.
