2006: Arnold saw limited action as a freshman as she played in eight contests.<br />
HIGH SCHOOL/CLUB: Arnold was a member <strong>of</strong> the 2004 ODP National<br />
Championship team and also helped her club team, the 3-Rivers<br />
United, to a second-place finish at the 2004 State Cup. At Richland<br />
High School, Arnold earned first team All-conference, first team All-Area,<br />
and second team All-state honors as a senior. Her team finished 20-0<br />
to win the State Championship in 2003 and was the Academic State<br />
Champions with a 3.862 combined grade point average the same year.<br />
PERSONAL: She is the daughter <strong>of</strong> John and Ellen Arnold. She is<br />
a Sports Science major with an emphasis on Pre-Physical Therapy.<br />
Quoting Showler: “Mel was voted by her peers as our player <strong>of</strong> the<br />
year. She had a phenomenal first season for us and the goal now is to<br />
come in and maintain that and also improve it. She is a dynamo in the<br />
midfield. She’s everywhere for us and she covers every blade <strong>of</strong> grass.”<br />
2007: Canite had a dynamite freshman season for the Vandals, as she started<br />
all 18 games, scored one goal, dished one assist and finished second on<br />
the team with 25 shots from her midfield position. Her great play throughout<br />
the season led to her teammates voting her as the team’s Most Valuable<br />
Player for the year. She scored her first career goal at Loyola Marymount.<br />
High School/Club: Helped Hanalani Schools win a Division II Hawaii<br />
state championship and league championship her senior season ... was<br />
a team captain her junior and senior years ... was a two-time all-league<br />
honoree ... was invited to participate in the Hawaii senior all-star game<br />
... also competed for the Leahi 90 Premier club team for three years,<br />
helping that team to an Aloha International state championship in 2006.<br />
Personal: She is the daughter <strong>of</strong> Michael and Charmaine Canite.<br />
She has one brother and one sister. She is majoring in Engineering.<br />
