Zapp – a premium supplier. Founded in 1701 by Hermann
Zapp in Ründeroth, Germany. Today, the Zapp Group has
commitments worldwide with production sites and service
centers. Its core activities lie in the manufacture of readyto-use
fabricated products made of high performance
materials for demanding applications. The Zapp Group is
composed of three divisions: Precision Wire, Precision Strip,
and Materials Engineering for specialty materials and tooling
alloys. Our objective is to ensure that every customer has a
competitive advantage as a result of close mutual cooperation.
EXPERT PROJECT MANAGEMENT WILL HELP YOU
TO OVERCOME EVERY DIFFICULTY, RIGHT THROUGH
TO MASS PRODUCTION – WORLDWIDE
Expect the unexpected. Our precision strip and
bimetal strip metals far exceed market standards.
With these products, you will have even highly
complex applications securely under control.
Nevertheless, these alone will not resolve every
problem. That‘s why we offer you the support of a
project management team, full of ideas, every step
of the way, from commissioning to completion in
your factory, wherever it may be located.
AS TECHNOLOGICAL LEADERS, WE ARE
ENTRUSTED WITH MEETING NEW CHALLENGES
We are not only experts in the complex process of
cold forming. We are also intensively involved in
the development of new applications in every
industrial and innovative sector. We have an
understanding of your products, your technologies
and your processes. On the one hand, this
experience ensures that you receive optimized
semi-finished products for your manufacturing
operation. On the other, it accelerates the entire
proceedings, effective from your first phone call.
EVEN DIFFICULT QUESTIONS ARE SOON
ANSWERED
Our particular strength is revealed, above all,
when we are asked to meet customers’ special
requirements. The entire process is coordinated
by a project management department which
provides professional services throughout the
world. When analyzing your application and
production methods, we make use of all the
experience we have gained in comparable situations.
As a result, it may well be that we already
have the solution you seek or that we use our
innovative strength to arrive at a new solution.
The next stage is its implementation in our cold
rolling mills, with the aim of achieving reliably
reproducible precision of the highest standard at
all times. Finally, we will – if required – assist you
in incorporating our semi-finished products into
your manufacturing operation. This can lead to
further optimization stages. The reliability of our
services on any site throughout the world is
assured by a logistical system which is individually
custom made for you. The fact that we manufacture
on a worldwide scale means that your Zapp
project manager will help you to make use of every
advantage when issues such as certificates of
origin, rates of exchange, customs regulations or
other trading barriers arise.
FASTER DEVELOPMENT – A CASE STUDY FROM
THE AUTOMOTIVE INDUSTRY
A company supplying the automotive industry was
commissioned by a well known car manufacturer
to develop a spring for a range of new models.
The component in question had required to meet
considerably more demanding requirements than
its previous counterpart - it had to be smaller and
more efficient. Our work began with a drawing
and a description of the product functions. Our
response to the problem took the form of a
pro posal in which we defined the material and the
required characteristic profile. Our suggested
solution was a special version of our proven 1.4310
grade of material, combined with ultra-fine
mechani cal, technological and geometric tolerances.
Precisely defined surface properties
guaranteed the optimum suitability for the subsequent
galvanizing process. Once the concept
had received technical clearance, samples were
promptly delivered, followed in the second stage
by production startup. The customer benefited
from our knowledge of the technology which
speeded up the development process, while the
reliability of our production operation ensured the
availability of the new product on schedule.
HOW YOUR PRODUCTION BENEFITS
FROM OUR SEMI-FINISHED PRODUCTS
Even at the specification stage, we take care to
ensure that our materials are suitable for your
production tools and parameters. Only in this way
can the optimum end result be assured in technical
and economic terms. The advantages for you
are improved tool endurance, lower reject rates
and better plant utilization. In addition, you can
expect all the goods we deliver to be of a high
quality standard. Our claim to fulfill the highest
level of reproducibility is based on expert process
management which incorporates all our experience
and which we update continually. In
parallel with this, we also consistently update our
machines in accordance with the latest state of the
art, so that they effortlessly satisfy every requirement
profile.
diversified supplier base
Our purchasing strategy is designed in such a way
that we are unaffected by the potential fluctuations
of individual suppliers, even when (as in our
case) they are the best in the world. In addition, we
anticipate technological trends and their resulting
requirements. Here again, our experience helps.
We take care to ensure that we have a wide range
of materials in stock.
PRECISION STRIP – FAR EXcEEDING
MARKET STANDARDS
We apply stricter tolerances than usual from the
standpoint of mechanical, technological and
geometric properties. In addition, we offer an
unusually wide range of materials, strengths,
dimensions and finishes – from soft to hard-rolled
versions or, in hardened form, as narrow and wide
strip. Our range embraces selected carbon steels
and corrosion-, acid- and heat-resistant steels all
the way to nickel-based, titanium and other
special alloys. Our exceptional range of dimensions
provides for widths from 0.08 to 42.0" (2 to
1066 mm) and thicknesses from 0.0008 to 0.099"
(0.02 to 2.5 mm).
