Frequently asked questions
15.1 Can we obtain copies of the book lists
included in the C2C materials?
The scope of the C2C project does not extend to
recommending or endorsing the products and services of
external providers to schools. A list of the texts that have
been referred to as examples is available on request.
There is no list of recommended texts as such, to support
teachers’ use of the C2C materials. Whilst sample
teaching episodes provided in lesson plans use extracts
from print and electronic texts, to model ways in which
teachers might deliver the curriculum, teachers are not
required to use them. Instead they are encouraged to
personalise lesson plans and to use texts and resources
that:
• are already available in their school’s collection
• meet the learning needs and interests of their students
• align with the expectations of the Australian
Curriculum.
The decision as to what texts and resources are best
suited to support the implementation of the Australian
Curriculum and student learning is that of the individual
school, in consultation with their community.
If schools elect to build on their current text and resource
collection, they are able to seek advice from, and
communicate their requirements to, suppliers and
publishers.
15.3 Can publishers, booksellers and
15.5 Can authors and publishers apply to
have a particular text/s included in the C2C
materials?
The C2C writers are responsible for selecting the texts and
resources that they use in sample teaching episodes, in
consultation with teachers. Requests from publishers and
authors to include references to their products are
declined to ensure that the Department is not seen to be
endorsing or promoting the products and services of
particular suppliers.
Publishers and distributors have existing mechanisms in
place to promote their books, authors and services to
schools — they should continue using these, as they have
done so in previous years.
15.6 Schools have been requesting copies
of books which are now out-of-print. Can
authors and publishers recommend
substitutes?
Substitutes may be recommended to individual schools
through the school librarian or principal.
15.7 Is information available to support
schools’ selection of literary texts, and
Australian Curriculum website.
Before selecting texts to support teaching and student
learning teachers are advised to consult the Content
and Year level. Information about the specific knowledge,
C2Cfeedback@deta.qld.gov.au if they wish to enquire
about the inclusion of a particular text in the C2C
