Thomas Winch Barrett, ex' 19, Mentor; Aviation Section Signal Corps.<br />

Killed by a fall June 29, 191 7, at Tours, France. Barrett was the first soldier <strong>of</strong><br />

the regulai forces to lose his life after the United States entered the war.<br />

John Clinton Bowman, '14 and '18, Columbus. Lieutenant in Medical Corps.<br />

Died October 2 at naval hospital, Philadelphia, <strong>of</strong> pneumonia.<br />

Gutiierie O. Burrell, '17, New Lexington. Lieutenant in Medical Corps<br />

with 37th Division. Died in September, 191 S, from wounds received in action in<br />

France.<br />

Delbert D. Burris, freshmen veterinary, Sabina. Died November 16 in<br />

the S.A.T.C. Barracks Hospital <strong>of</strong> influenza.<br />

Charles A. Bruce, '95, Columbus. Died April 3, 1917, <strong>of</strong> pneumonia contracted<br />

at Camp Sherman where he had been conducting classes in French for<br />

<strong>of</strong>ficers.<br />

Murton L. Campbell, ex '18, Wakeman. Lieutenant in Aviation Section<br />

Signal Corps. Killed in action in France July 21, 1918.<br />

Cyril Carder, ex '18, Corning. N, Y. Lieutenant in i6th Regiment. Killed<br />

in action in I*"rance July 21, 1918.<br />

Donald R. Charlton, ex '17, Bucyrus. Second Lieutenant 82nd U. S. Aero<br />

Squadron. Killed by fall from plane July 22, 1918, at Camp Taliaferro, Texas.<br />

Harold J. Courtney, '18, Columbus. Quartermaster on LI. S.S. Louisville.<br />

Died <strong>of</strong> pneumonia at sea, September 21, 1918.<br />

Carl R. Crites, ex '20, Lakeside. Reported in casualty list <strong>of</strong> November 12,<br />

191 8, as having died <strong>of</strong> wounds.<br />

Erwin L Danford, ex '16, Quaker City. Sergeant in the Marines. Died July<br />

23, 1918, <strong>of</strong> pneumonia, after being wounded in action June 25.<br />

Andrew C. Donohoe, freshmen engineering. South Charleston. Died <strong>of</strong> influenza<br />

October 15, in the S.A.T.C. Barracks Hospital.<br />

Charles ALvurice Elder, '15, New Lexington. Died <strong>of</strong> influenza at Camp<br />

Sherman, October 5, 191 8.<br />

Carey R. Evans, ex '18, Columbus. Killed in action in France April 6, 191 8.<br />
