8th. St. Georgt"s Ward, a\l (hat part of the City south of<br />
the nurth side of King street, and west of the \Vest side of<br />

9th. Attaches the lib0rties immediately adjacent to each<br />
Ward, to fhlch ~djacent Ward. .<br />
10th. City by Act of Common Council may erect any part<br />
of the liberties into outer "'anls, such ouler II ards not tu exceed<br />
five in number.<br />
11th. The Liberties of any wanl, when it has as many inhabitants,<br />
and contams as much assessed properly as the smallest<br />
ward at the first a3sessment after the passing of tbis Act,<br />
must be erected into an ?uter ward, by proclamation of the<br />
Mayor.<br />
12th. From the date of the proclamation such part of the<br />
·liberties to be a separate ward, and have all the privileges of a<br />
ward, but not to return m~mber3 to the Common Council until<br />
the time of the next City Election.<br />
13th. All that portion CJf the Uberties (commonly called the<br />
Bay) to constitute the Port of <strong>Toronto</strong>.<br />
14th. The inhabitants of (he said City to form a Body CorpOl'ale<br />
and Poli~ic by the name of the City of <strong>Toronto</strong>, to have<br />
a Common Seal with power to change the same, to be capable<br />
of suing and being sued, and of purchasing and hohling<br />
Estate, real and persunal, and of giving and receiving Bonds,<br />
Judgements, &c. &c.<br />
15th. Two Aldermen and two Vommon Councilmen to be<br />
chosen for each Ward, who shall choose the .lVhyor from<br />
among the Aldermen, in case of equality of votes that Alderman<br />
who is hi~hest assessed to give the casting vote.<br />
16th. Qualification for an Alderman, to have been resident<br />
householder for one year next belore the election, to be so resident<br />
as the time of election, and to be possessed uf real property<br />
within the City or Liberties, rated at' two hundred<br />
pounds.<br />
17th. Qualification for a Common Councilman Ihe same as<br />
that for an Alderman, except the property, which is one bundred<br />
and fifty pounds including additional fire-places.<br />
18th. That the A ldermen and Vommon Councilmen of<br />
the said City shall be elected respectively by the majority of<br />
votes of 'such persons being male inhabitant householders<br />
within the ward for which the election shall be hulden, or the<br />
liberties attached thereto, as shall be possessed at the time of
