in which the treatment was undertaken during the year. 9 were
treated because of hemorrhage and 15 cases because of their
toxic condition.

Dental Care
Obviously the care of the teeth is an important part in the
therapeutics of tuberculosis. In the report of the Dental Department
submitted herewith attention is called to the fact that the
resident dentist alone performed all of the work done as included
in this report. During the coming year, with an additional
number of children expected among our patients, the employment
of additional dental aid is desirable. A well equipped
clinic is now used at the Children's Building and, as a similar
clinic is available at the main institution, there is no reason why,
for lack of equipment, two dentists may not be employed. The
clinic at the Children's Building has also been used to some extent
during the year for the purpose of rendering dental care
to cases referred from the other institutions on the City Farms,
especially from the Girls' Colony.
X-Ray
In addition to the 1220 films taken in the routine care of
cases who are inmates at the institution during the year and
106 dental films of similar cases made by the resident dentist
there have been cases referred constantly through the year for
X-ray who come from the health station clinics for tuberculosis
in the city. There were 264 films made of dispensary cases and
these films together with a routine interpretation of each were
sent to the clinic physicians for their aid in making diagnoses
of cases attending clinics.
