Never
Quit
For Alison Stuckey of Toronto, Ontario, and her
family, the economic downturn helped them realize
a better life was indeed possible. With Alison
a stay-at-home mom and her husband John looking for
work, they wondered when things would get better. But
when presented with the Arbonne opportunity, Alison
was skeptical – until she attended an eye-opening information
session, and her belief changed forever.
I call Arbonne my unconventional endeavour, one without limits and one
that I couldn’t always see. I used to see into an endlessly dark tunnel,
but thanks to Arbonne there is now a blazingly bright light shining at
the end of the tunnel.
When I was first introduced to this opportunity, our life was without hope
or dreams. My husband had been unemployed for six months with no
Alison and family: John, David and Samantha.
end in sight. I had been home full-time for six years since the birth of
our first child, which added to our stress. The thought of both of us trying
to find any type of job just to make ends meet was scary, with the
“It’s such a cliché, but it’s true:
If I can do this, anyone can!”
economy in a severe downturn. Even still, when my friend Katherine
O’Neil suggested Arbonne as the answer to our situation, I was cautious,
to say the least. For me, representing a skincare and make-up line was
laughable, and, as a result, my belief in Arbonne took a while to develop.
I always talk about my start date and my belief date. I started my business
in October 2009, but my belief in the business and commitment to
Kids.
Arbonne really began in January 2010. When I signed up, Katherine asked
me to promise her to never quit. Although I had no idea what I had promised
her that day, I knew that I would never quit, even in the difficult times.
At first, I dabbled. I shyly told people that I had an Arbonne business, all the
while fearful of what they might say or think. But something happened that
January and my commitment changed. My first few months as a Consultant
were slow, but all around me people were successful and I wanted that
too. I heard someone speak the day they picked up their Mercedes that
January. I heard two incredible and successful women (you know who you
are) talk about how Arbonne was better than anything they had ever done.
SUCCESS strategy
“Be a duck — let the
negative roll off your back.”
They were happy, positive and buoyed by the opportunity Arbonne presented.
I thought, if they can do this, so can I. I wanted what they had,
what they were feeling. I had never had that passion in my traditional work
life, always looking for where I belonged and earning someone else’s
dream. That’s what I had always wanted for me and my family.
A lot of people say to me that they could never do what I do. I tell them
that two and a half years ago, I couldn’t do what I’m doing now either,
and it’s true. Arbonne has afforded me enormous personal development
and it will continue to, thanks to the incredible network of people and
training available.
My team often hears me say, “Be a duck.” You have to let the negative
just roll off your back, like water off a duck, and continue on your way.
Focus on where you want to be in life, where you deserve to be in life —
and you will get there.
Thank you a million times over to my amazing friend, leader and Sponsor,
NVP Katherine O’Neil. I will always be grateful to you for sharing this great
gig with me and for believing in me, even when I didn’t. Here’s to the life we
all deserve to live. My belief and determination have never been stronger.
Thank you to my incredible friend, ENVP Suzanne Van Parys, who is
anything but ordinary. You are my mentor and inspiration to be extraordinary.
You have always been there encouraging me along the way and
I’m so happy that I know you.
Thank you ENVP Val Darien for leading us all into this charmed life so
many years ago when you said yes and pioneered Arbonne in Ontario.
Without you, none of us would have the lives we have.
Thank you ERVP Kimberley Maharaj for showing me what is possible.
Thank you to all of my sidelines. Your inspiring stories are not falling on
deaf ears. Keep telling them because they impact people more than you
know. A special thank you to ERVP Cindy Garmaise, my voice of reason
and friendly sounding board. You are incredible.
Thank you to my fabulous team: DM Karen Andrews for being the
first person to say yes to me; AM Lilly Smith who saw the potential in
Arbonne; and AM Natalie Colalillo who got it from the start and continues
to inspire us all every day. This is truly a team effort; no one gets to have
a Mercedes-Benz Presentation on their own. I’m fortunate to work with
such a wonderful team.
Thank you to my family for your love and support, especially my parents
and my mother-in-law, for always helping when we need you.
Thank you to my children, David and Samantha, for being my inspiration
to create a better life and for understanding when Mummy is out working.
I love you both with my all my heart.
And a huge thank you to my husband, John, for being my biggest supporter
and cheerleader. Thanks for always believing in where Arbonne
is taking us. I love you.
