About <strong>Strathmartine</strong><br />
The <strong>Strathmartine</strong> Ward is situated to the North West of<br />
the city <strong>and</strong> has a population of approximately 19,000. It<br />
comprises the distinct community areas of Ardler, St. Marys,<br />
Kirkton, Downfield, The Dales, Trottick <strong>and</strong> Brackens.<br />
<strong>Strathmartine</strong> boasts a number of parks, including;<br />
Camperdown, Clatto <strong>and</strong> Caird Park. This makes it a most<br />
attractive, green area, with great resources for exploring<br />
nature, walking <strong>and</strong> golfing. It also has many community<br />
assets, including; Ardler Complex, Kirkton <strong>Community</strong> Centre<br />
<strong>and</strong> St. Mary’s <strong>Community</strong> Facility who provide excellent<br />
services <strong>and</strong> activities for all ages.<br />
The ward has very mixed housing, with many of the houses<br />
built post war. Ardler has had major regeneration investment<br />
in the last 10 years, working in partnership with local<br />
residents, <strong>and</strong> is held up as an example of good practice<br />
within physical regeneration.<br />

Planning Partnership<br />
The <strong>Strathmartine</strong> <strong>Local</strong> <strong>Community</strong> Planning Partnership<br />
meets each quarter. It enables Council Department’s to work<br />
together better with partner agencies at a local level. The aim<br />
is to deliver services <strong>and</strong> activities in a way which better meets<br />
the needs of people in <strong>Strathmartine</strong>.<br />
The Partnership meeting is chaired by <strong>Dundee</strong> <strong>City</strong> Council<br />
Head of Democratic <strong>and</strong> Legal Services <strong>and</strong> is regularly<br />
attended by all four local elected members, senior staff from<br />
other key <strong>City</strong> Council Departments <strong>and</strong> planning partners<br />
including the Voluntary Sector, Police Scotl<strong>and</strong>, Scottish<br />
Fire <strong>and</strong> Rescue Service <strong>and</strong> NHS Tayside. <strong>Community</strong><br />
representation at the Partnership is drawn from local<br />
community organisations.<br />
