BETWEEN HIp-HOp AND KALASHNIKOV
by Stefanie Landgraf and Johannes Gulde LONGTERM | WAR&PEACE | HUMAN RIGHTS | YOUTH | MUSIC | CULTURE
During the 1980s the film directors Stefanie Landgraf and Johannes Gulde shot several documentaries
in the Middle East about the Palestinians living in refugee camps. Today, almost 30 years later, Yasmin,
the daughter of Johannes Gulde, and Enz, a Hip-Hop artist, take a trip to Lebanon and the West
Bank – with clips from the old films in their laptop. What do the participating people from the past
think today about the PLO, Fatah, Hamas and Israel? And what are the hopes and expectations of the
young generation? On their extraordinary journey Yasmin and Enz witness a mirror of contemporary
life, focusing on different views of the Palestinian youth.
Yes, the struggle continues! But instead of with guns, it's with microphones, theatrical performances,
dance and rap as an answer to exile and occupation.
BETWEEN WORLDS
by Marc Haenecke and Harald Rumpf CONTEMPORARY SOCIETY | DAILY LIFE | SOCIAL BIOTOPE | HUMAN INTEREST
“Between Worlds” accompanies two patients from the coma
state in the Clinic Augsburg via a gradual awakening until
the return to everyday reality. What does it mean to gradually
awake in a world that seems to have changed in whole? How
much energy is needed to take the long way back? How much
to relearn to speak, walk or even perceive the own body again?
The film also shows the relatives and the employees of the clinic:
their carefulness and concentration when dealing with the
patient. How do they contact the persons in other states of consciousness?
“Between Worlds” provides a deeper understanding of existential human interactions. The documentary
film offers incentives for more conscious and more sensitive dealing with the challenge of a coma
to promote the chances of healing.
90min | HD | German version with English textlist
The Black Forest and the Vosges Mountains are like twins; separated by the
Rhine Valley millions of years ago. Today, they form two different habitats: in
the Vosges Mountains bright deciduous woodlands prevail. Rare animals like
the Lynx roam the forests and storks fly in flocks around the valleys and nest
in the towns.
The Black Forest with its coniferous woods and secret animals seems darker,
except when thick snow in the winter lights up the mountains with brilliant
covers. An emotional portray about land an nature, including also customs
and traditions still being performed today.
