On the odd occasion when we weren't out on trips and the club was closed, which was rarely, we'd play in the compound next to the club. The club was in Peel Glen Park. The park only had a set of swings and an old rusty chute. It was mainly flat concrete ground that we used to play football, on or our bikes or playing One Manhunt. The best hiding place was on top of the club roof. On the opposite side was a grassy hill; great for playing soldiers and sun bathing. The Whitie days at Balmaha 24
Jamie McKenzie 2000 When I was younger I used to play with my favourite toys like Action Man. I was lucky enough to have a Giant Action Man car, which I loved. I was Action Man daft and played everywhere and anywhere with them. The best Action Man figure that I remember was the one you pulled out his back and blow into it to shoot out darts I also had a big purple and green snake. It wasn’t a real one though, it was an inflatable! My dad and me crawled through the snake and played tig. I also remember going on a bouncy castle and waiting until it was half deflated. I’d sit on one end and my dad would sit on other. Then my dad jumped up and I went flying up into the air! I always remember dad and me going up The Froggy on my white and blue quad bike and doing figure of eights, round the goalposts. Talking about goalposts, I had two humungous inflatable goalposts that were bigger than the bin shed out the back and the ball I played with was the size of an exercise ball. 25
