2008-09 ROADRUNNER <strong>WRESTLING</strong> DUAL MEET RESULTS<br />
NO. 12 OKLAHOMA 26, CSUB 12<br />
SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — Facing a second<br />
consecutive top-20 ranked squad at the<br />
Central Coast Duals, the Roadrunners were<br />
able to win a trio <strong>of</strong> bouts, but ultimately fell<br />
26-12 to No. 12 ranked Oklahoma.<br />
Much like the dual against No. 5 Missouri<br />
earlier in the day, Brandon Zoetewey started<br />
things <strong>of</strong>f strong against the Sooners, winning<br />
a 10-9 decision over Joey Fio to put<br />
CSUB up 3-0.<br />
Thomas Kimbrell followed with an 8-4 decision<br />
over No. 19 ranked David Armstrong to<br />
give the ‘Runners a 6-0 lead and Trevor Hall<br />
added a fall victory over No. 16 ranked Shane<br />
Vernon at 157, but once again, no other<br />
‘Runner was able to pick up a win.<br />

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Coming <strong>of</strong>f an<br />
impressive fourth place finish at the Reno<br />
Tournament <strong>of</strong> Champions just two days eariler,<br />
CSUB returned to the Icardo Center and<br />
easily claimed a 42-3 win over Cal Baptist.<br />
Against the Lancers, four ‘Runners won by fall<br />
and all but one CSUB wrestler was victorious<br />
in the runaway win.<br />
Sophomore Trevor Hall, who was forced to<br />
medical forfeit his final two matches at the<br />
Reno TOC, returned to the mat to claim a big<br />
14-3 major decision at 157 over Lamar Reed,<br />
who is ranked No. 8 nationally in the NAIA.<br />
Joey Granata (165), Jason Points (174) and<br />
Ernesto Ancona (184) followed with three<br />
consecutive falls and Brandon Halsey (197)<br />
earned 21-6 technical fall over Cal Baptist’s<br />
Vince Pezzuto to put the ‘Runner squad up<br />
27-0.<br />
At heavyweight, David Morgan won with an<br />
11-4 decision and Frank Lomas (125) scored<br />
a 6-1 decision over No. 5 ranked Chauncey<br />
Phillips. Justin Durham (133) earned a quick<br />
fall over No. 5 Andrew Collins and Elijah<br />
Nacita squeaked out a 3-2 decision at 141 to<br />
give CSUB a 42-0 lead.<br />
Jarell Price earned the Lancers’ lone win <strong>of</strong><br />
the dual, breaking a 5-5 tie against Sam<br />
Barnhart (149) with a takedown with 24 seconds<br />
remaining.<br />

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — After earning a 42-3<br />
win over Cal Baptist to being the day, CSUB<br />
easily dominated it’s second dual, winning<br />
39-9 over Pac-10 rival Portland State.<br />
The ‘Runners improve to 3-3 in dual competion<br />
and remain a perfect 2-0 in Pac-10<br />
action.<br />
Collecting two points <strong>of</strong>f <strong>of</strong> stalling warnings<br />
from opponent Alex Bubb, Trevor Hall opened<br />
the dual with a 3-1 decision, and Granata followed<br />
with a fall victory over Bryan Cantrell<br />
To put the ‘Runners up 9-0.<br />
Brady Garner gave the Vikings their first<br />
points <strong>of</strong> match with an 11-10 decision over<br />
Jason Points, but Ernesto Ancona pushed the<br />
lead back to 10 with a 15-4 major decision<br />
over Tony Contreras.<br />
Mitch Monteiro, Thomas Kimbrell and Elijah<br />
Nacita all claimed fall victories, while Sam<br />
Barnhart won by decision and Frank Lomas<br />
picked up a big 15-0 technical fall for the<br />
remainder <strong>of</strong> the ‘Runner wins.<br />
