A flourishing village, situated on <strong>the</strong> western bank of <strong>the</strong> <strong>Gatineau</strong> River,<br />

in <strong>the</strong> Township of Hull, County and District of Ottawa. The extensive saw<br />

mills of Messrs. Gilmour & Co., are situated here, which give employment to<br />

a large number of people. The scenery in <strong>the</strong> vicinity is much admired.<br />

Montreal Telegraph Company have (sic) an office here. Distant from Ottawa 8<br />

1/2 miles. Mail daily; fare 50 cents by stage. Population 500.<br />
