FLAP BANDS PATENT by Patented by Wendt, Flap Bands were first developed as a longer lasting, more productive alternative to flap wheels and spiral bands.They have become one of our most unique and successful innovations to date. Aggressiveness and durability you would not expect from a coated abrasive product! Actual results of stock removed from solid bar stock in a matter of seconds with Z60 and Z80 Flap Bands. Note what little wear appears on the flaps. TIP: Always take care that you are using the Flap Bands on the Expanding Drums in the right direction! A label inside each Flap Band shows the specification as well as the running direction! Flap Band Features • Layered Flaps are tightly packed. • Individual flaps wear back evenly, constantly exposing new sharp grains. • Flaps affixed to a firm fibre core. • Used with custom Rubber Expanding Drums. Benefits • Acts more aggressively than a flap wheel. • Requires less pressure. • Easier to control. • Aggressive stock removal throughout product life. • Reduce labour costs by removing material faster! • Greater durability than spiral bands. No seams or splices to rip or tear on sharp edges. • Protects and extends life of rubber drum. • Precision balanced for smooth, even abrasive wear. • Quick, easy changeovers. Drums expand and grip the band as machine reaches speed. • Low vibration helps avoiding White Fingers. 54
FLAP BANDS Small Diameter Flap Bands Small Flap Bands (22 to 75 mm internal diameter) provide aggressive stock removal in confined spaces in place of spiral bands, carbide burrs, mounted points, flap wheels, plugs and cones. They are also excellent for grinding and finishing inside pipes and tubing. PATENT by Aluminium Oxide Flap Bands For general grinding on a variety of metals. Aluminium Oxide can be special ordered up through grit 320 for finer finishes (on request). TIP: Flap Bands achieve best performance when used with less pressure.
