See You At Peelers Retired, Bred to SBSW

See You At Peelers (Bettor’s Delight), who took harness
racing by storm last year with her 22-race winning streak,
has been retired, Harness Racing Update has learned.
Now 4, she has been bred to Somebeachsomewhere.
The decision came after she finished seventh in a May 18

said. “She had a helluva run. She won 22 straight and
made headlines in the New York Times and in Sports
Illustrated. She was a fantastic horse.”
See You At Peelers was bred by Takter’s wife, Christina,
and she is owned by the partnership of Christina Takter
and John and Jim Fielding.
Jimmy Takter said no decision has been made yet as to
whether the partnership will race or sell the foal.

“I didn’t want to have her go out there and cheapen up the
filly,” trainer Jimmy Takter said. “She’s not just not right and I
didn’t want to jeopardize her future as a broodmare and keep
going through the year.”
See You At Peelers’ winning streak was snapped Aug. 29,
2011 when losing to Idyllic (American Ideal) in the Nadia
Lobell at the Meadows. For the rest of that year, she couldn’t
get back on track. Takter found that she had an irregular
heartbeat and hoped that by working on that problem and
giving her time off she would come back strong in 2012.
Initially, it appeared that his plan had worked. She began
her 4-year-old campaign with four straight wins in the Blue
Chip Matchmaker Series at Yonkers, but was badly beaten
in the final, finishing seventh as the 3-5 favorite.
After winning a qualifier at the Meadowlands, she reappeared
in the Yonkers race and threw in another dud. Takter
said he has not been able to get to the bottom of what has
been wrong with her in her last two starts.
She retires with a record of 26 wins from 31 career starts
and $1,573,260 in career earnings. She was the 2-year-old
filly pacing champion in 2010 and the 3-year-old champ in
2011.
Her lifetime mark is 3,1:49.2F, which she achieved at
Tioga Downs.
