reduc<strong>in</strong>g landfill and embrac<strong>in</strong>g<br />
<strong>the</strong> waste challenge
Waste Management tips and Simple Rules<br />
Hast<strong>in</strong>gs residents are required to separate waste<br />
<strong>in</strong>to three different streams.<br />
Contam<strong>in</strong>ation causes health and landfill problems<br />
and costs our community. <strong>The</strong>re are a number<br />
of simple rules, which will ensure <strong>the</strong> successful<br />
collection of your b<strong>in</strong>;<br />
• Only place acceptable materials <strong>in</strong> each of <strong>the</strong><br />
three b<strong>in</strong>s<br />
• <strong>B<strong>in</strong></strong>s must not weigh more than 55kg<br />
• <strong>B<strong>in</strong></strong>s must have <strong>the</strong> lids completely closed<br />
when <strong>the</strong>y are out for collection<br />
• <strong>B<strong>in</strong></strong>s must be at <strong>the</strong> kerbside by 6am on <strong>the</strong><br />
morn<strong>in</strong>g of scheduled collection day<br />
• <strong>B<strong>in</strong></strong>s must be placed on <strong>the</strong> kerbside fac<strong>in</strong>g<br />
<strong>the</strong> road and be spaced 80cm apart<br />
• Avoid plac<strong>in</strong>g b<strong>in</strong>s near trees or parked cars<br />
• Goods such as books, cloth<strong>in</strong>g, furniture<br />
appliances and build<strong>in</strong>g materials should be<br />
separated and taken for reuse to opportunity<br />
shops, secondhand dealers and build<strong>in</strong>g<br />
material recyclers<br />

runn<strong>in</strong>g with an address randomly selected and its<br />
