The monthly meeting of the Canterbury B<strong>and</strong> of Hope Union was held at Mr Parkes’ house, Barbadoes street, on Thursday, when the<br />

details belonging to the demonstration for Easter Monday were discussed. The Sports Committee had met <strong>and</strong> reported progress. It was<br />

reported that probably four b<strong>and</strong>s would be in attendance. It was resolved that hymns be sung at Latimer square before starting, <strong>and</strong> at the<br />

Park upon arrival. Several eminent temperance speakers were to be asked to give short addresses. The meeting then adjourned till<br />

Tuesday, April 20.<br />

I, William Henry Parkes, Bachelor of Medicine <strong>and</strong> Master in Surgery, University of Edinburgh, now residing in Cuba-street, Wellington,<br />

hereby give notice that I intend applying on the 14 th September, 1894, next, to have my name placed on the Medical Register for the<br />
