Danes to the scrutiny of the anthropological lens. A subversion of historical representation, a
reframing of photographic tropes, the project is a contemporary portrait not of Danish
society, but of the visual archive that has historically formed the basis of knowledge and
Western prejudice.
I want to stress that this is a work in progress. She let me borrow some of her expedition
photographs, but she has not yet decided the actual form of the work, that will not be show
until late 2007.
But I decided to end this talk by presenting her work as an example of another strategy to
critically reflect on this year’s theme of photographic representations of ‘the other’.
