Technical Information
MOTOREX COOL CONCENTRATE
Spindle coolant concentrate, water miscible
Description
COOL CONCENTRATE is a fully synthetic, watermiscible
concentrated coolant. The substances it contains
passivate the various materials and provide longterm
protection against corrosion. When mixed with
water COOL-CONCENTRATE produces a very efficient
coolant, with thermal capacity of only approx. 2% below
that of clear water.
Advantages

Very efficient heat dissipation
Prevents electrochemical corrosion
Provides effective protection against corrosion for
aluminium, and ferrous and non-ferrous metals
Galvanised components are not attacked
Low maintenance
Free of formaldehyde
Inspected and confirmed to be compatible with all
plastics and sealing materials in general use in the
engineering industry.
Maintenance
Change COOL CONCENTRATE every year. We recommend
regular checks of the pH value and concentration
to ensure that optimum protection is provided..
Application
Mixture with 11% COOL CONCENTRATE preparing
(e.g. for 100L tank: 11L COOL CONCENTRATE and 89L
tap water). Only use clean containers for preparing the
mixture. Pour the mixture into the prepared cooling system
immediately.
An average operating temperature of 20 - 25°C will provide
very effective long-term protection for elastomers
(e.g. PUR ether) that are sensitive to hydrolysis. These
advantageous conditions can be obtained using a cooling
unit.
Storage
Store MOTOREX COOL CONCENTRATE in a sealed
original container at a temperature of 5 – 35°C.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
The quality of the mixing water, the preparation of the
mixture, the preparation (cleaning) of the circuit have a
considerable effect on the stability and reliability of
COOL-CONCENTRATE. It is essential to follow the instructions
on how to work with this product.
COOL-X ready for use is an alternative product. Guaranteed
quality, independent of the local water quality.
Important information on the use of COOL CONCENTRATE
1. Initial commissioning of the spindle cooling system
Before a cooling system is brought into operation first time, it must be cleaned prior to remove solids
and germs. Neglecting this procedure may result in damage of components in the system or may spoil the
coolant.
Flush the circuit thoroughly for approx. 2 hours using a mixture of COOL CONCENTRATE treated with
3% CONTRAM CB-1.
Drain the circuit completely.
Fill the coolant tank with COOL CONCENTRATE following the instructions, or with COOL-X.
2. Mixing of the coolant
Attention! Water quality see note in Application on page 1.
3. Regular maintenance
COOL CONCENTRATE is a low-maintenance product providing corrosion protection. In order to constant quality
of the coolant, we recommend regular checks of the following parameters:
Appearance
Odour
Concentration
pH value
The relevant specified values can be found in the technical data sheet. If any of the parameters are not within
the valid range, please contact a specialist.
4. Changing coolant
Interval between changes:
With an optimum environment and deployment conditions the coolant can remain in use for a maximum of 4
years.
Procedure for a coolant change:
1. Add 3 % CONTRAM CB-1 to the “old” coolant. Then continue to work at least 24 hours.
2. Then drain the tank completely and clean well. Important: Follow the regulations for the disposal of fluid.
3. Refill the tank according to point 2 Mixing of the coolant.
5. Evaporation losses, refilling coolant
Top up the tank with COOL CONCENTRATE (see Application on page 1) or COOL-X (see general information)
to compensate for evaporation losses.
6. Transport
Below - 25°C COOL CONCENTRATE freezes. If it’s exposed to freezing temperatures during the transport, it
can be thawed by temperatures above +5°C. After thawing shake the container well and make sure, that the
product is completely thawed.
7. General information
COOL-CONCENTRATE is also available as ready for use product (COOL-X). Thanks to the premixed coolant
fluid, most common coolant problems are eliminated. Consistently high quality of this product, no mixing, no
risk of using impure water or using contaminated pans or containers. For security reasons we recommend if
ever possible to use COOL-X. COOL-X is prepared with filtered and treated water.
The guidelines listed above are in accordance with current knowledge and may be modified. MOTOREX AG
does not accept any warranty for contaminated circuits, mechanical defects or similar, which can be attributed
to poor upkeep, non-compliance with the guidelines or the use of non-recommended materials/substances.
