A long time passed and Oliver was finally well. For the first time in his life he was happy because someone loved him. One day Mr Brownlow asked Oliver if he could take some books to a bookshop and he gave Oliver a ₤5 note. Oliver was very happy because he could do something for Mr Brownlow. Oliver took the books and walked happily down the street. Unfortunately Nancy and Sikes found him, kidnapped him and brought him to Fagin's house. Oliver was very worried. He didn’t want Mr Browlow to think he was a thief who had taken the books and the money and then escaped. So he asked Fagin to return the books and the £5 note to Mr Brownlow. Everyone laughed at Oliver. He wanted to escape from those bad people but Fagin first hit him and then locked him in a dirty cold room. In the meantime at Mr Brownlow's house, he and Mrs Bedwin were waiting for Oliver. But he never came home again. Mr Brownlow was very sad and worried: where was Oliver?
THE CRIME One rainy night Fagin and Bill Sikes were very excited. They were planning to steal all the precious things in a rich house. They needed a small boy to open the house. Oliver was the boy! So they sent Nancy to take him. She told Oliver to be quiet and brave, because she loved that poor little boy. Oliver was really scared. A few hours later Oliver was in front of the rich house, with a pistol at his head. It was cold and foggy. Sikes ordered the scared boy to go inside the house, entering a little window. He didn’t want to do that, but he had no other choice. Once inside, he wanted to warn the family, but someone heard him. Two men saw him and one of them shot at him. Oliver was hurt! He quickly climbed the window and tried to escape, but he was hurt and fell on the cold wet ground where he stayed all the night. Bill Sikes and Toby Crackit didn’t even try to help him and escaped.
