The Bureau of Corrmercial Fisheries is storing<br />

The Ontario water Resources Commission, in 1966,<br />

compatible with syst.ems used by Canadian and U.S. federal<br />

The Great Lakes Institute of the University of<br />

Toronto is storinq its Great Lakes data in the Canadian<br />

Oceanographic Data Centre. The University of Michigan has<br />

its own system, 2s does the University of Wisconsin.<br />

Punch card, or rr,agneti.c tape data records can be<br />

exchanged but the receiving agency or data centre nust develop<br />

its own program to ccmpile data in a form suitable for its own<br />

computer facilities.<br />

the States of New York and Pennsylvania) to establish a <strong>Joint</strong><br />

Committee on Water Quality Management. Data. The purpose of the<br />

Committee is to develop uniform procedures for the storage,<br />

collection, and processing of data to facilitate exchange of<br />

such data among interested agencies. Other participants include<br />
