AUSTRALIAN POLICE MEDAL (APM)<br />
Sergeant Dimitrios (Jim) BELLOS<br />
Sergeant Bellos has demonstrated outstanding dedication and commitment throughout his<br />
14 years in the Queensland Police Service (QPS); in particular, his last 7 years as the<br />
cross-cultural liaison officer for Metropolitan South Region which is an area home to<br />
200 communities speaking 150 languages and practising more than 130 religions. Over the<br />
years, Sergeant Bellos has built a relationship of trust, respect and understanding between<br />
these communities and the police. With endless energy and enthusiasm he establishes<br />
community consultative groups, organises multi-faith dinners, supports people through<br />
personal and family tragedy, and runs the For the Love of the Game' program. Through the<br />
shared enjoyment of sport, particularly soccer, the program brings together more than 8,000<br />
young people from diverse backgrounds and is a real catalyst in breaking down barriers, and<br />
has resulted in a substantial decline in youth crime. Sergeant Bellos works closely with the<br />
refugee population and provides education and assistance to the refugees about policing and<br />
community. He is held in the highest regard by the QPS and the communities he interacts<br />
with on a daily basis. He has achieved a high level of acceptance through outstanding<br />
communication skills, dedication and persistence.<br />

Assistant Commissioner Robert William GEE<br />
Assistant Commissioner Gee has demonstrated outstanding dedication and commitment<br />
during his distinguished career with the Queensland Police Service. His commitment, skill<br />
and expertise in operational policing practices, organisational improvement and professional<br />
development have contributed to his effectiveness in key positions in both operational and<br />
corporate areas. He was recently appointed as the Assistant Commissioner, Information and<br />
Communications Technology Division. His professionalism, leadership abilities and strategic<br />
planning skills epitomise the pursuit of excellence and have contributed to the enhancement<br />
of ethical standards, discipline and professional practice and significant structural reform of<br />
the Queensland Police Service. His approach to his own professional development and the<br />
encouragement of police officers to seek out higher education and development opportunities<br />
are indicative of his commitment to the philosophy of continuous improvement. Assistant<br />
Commissioner Gee has served the community in Queensland in a broad range of operational<br />
and corporate responsibilities, and he is recognised for his leadership, strategic planning<br />
skills, and contribution to improvements frontline policing.<br />
