Revised induction process

September 3rd through October 4th marked reception rounds
one through three. The first round went as in the past, with every
club hosting a single, two-hour reception; prospective members
were encouraged to attend as many as possible.
The second round was a new experience for all involved this
year, as no receptions were held. Instead, upperclass students
visited the freshmen in their dorms during the week in order to
have more one-on-one time to get to know each other. Jennifer
Strickland, a member of ZetaBho, felt the upperclass visitation
was positive. "This year's selection process was better organized,
and visitation went much faster than most people expected," she
said.
Invitations were sent out on September 23 regarding round
three after clubs and prospective members had voted once.
During the following two weeks, clubs and freshmen met again
for one-and-a-half-hour receptions which were once again nonconflicting
with other clubs and to which freshmen received
invitations. Following this round, inductees voted a second time,
ranking all clubs in order of preference.
"I have seen a lot more desire from both members and freshmen
to be involved. This year, the process seems less of a task and
more fun. There has been a good attitude among the freshmen in
general," Chad McNatt, sophomore member of Delta Chi Delta,
said.
