★ Excellence in Research
★ A new international Master programme
in Environmental Studies
An innovative Master in Environmental
Studies offered jointly by Technische Universität
Hamburg-Harburg in Germany, Universitat
Autònoma de Barcelona in Spain,
Universidade de Aveiro in Portugal and
Aalborg Universitet in Denmark, developed
as an exclusive high end programme that
requires students to study in at least two of
the Universities. Graduates will be awarded a
Joint Master Degree. For its outstanding academic
quality, JEMES was selected by the
European Union as an ERASMUS MUNDUS
programme.
★ Quotes from the EU experts who
evaluated JEMES for the European
Commission
“Strong proposal prepared by leading
universities and research active teams.”
“ The examination methodologies are very
clear; they are based on multiple tools.”
“ The mechanisms of student mobility
(duration, location, combination) are
well conceived.”
★ Taught entirely in English
JEMES is taught entirely in English. You will
be exposed to a range of demanding learning
experiences and in addition to mandatory
fundamentals in the discipline be able
to choose among a number of electives.
You will enjoy a unique opportunity to experience
European business and industry
cultures by being integrated in applied research
works in close connection with leading
companies.
The partners are known for their excellent
research. Through the intensified cooperation
between the partners, synergy in research
efforts among the academics will be produced,
as well as more options for involvement
of the students into research at an early
stage can be offered. Manifold specialisation
modules that contain up-to-date research
results, project work based on actual problems
from applied and theoretical research,
and an entire semester devoted exclusively
to thesis work (often part of a larger research
project where a number of PhD students,
senior researchers and sometimes private
stakeholders collaborate), emphasizes the
strong JEMES focus on research. The best
JEMES graduates are invited to continue
towards a doctoral degree.
★ An interdisciplinary Masters
JEMES is strongly interdisciplinary, integrating
course units delivered by academic
staff from all four partner universities and
leading guest scholars. Based on long term
excellence in teaching and research, the programme
is devoted to the quality of the
environment and related technologies as
well as to sustainable management and conservation.
The programme deals, both from a
technological and managerial perspective,
with chemical, physical and biological
changes in the environment and considers
the behaviour of air, water and soil as they
are affected by anthropogenic activities.
★ Superior qualifications
and competences
JEMES provides you with much-demanded
qualifications and competences. After successful
graduation you will have acquired an outstanding
