2006 was a difficult year financially.
Income dipped to £110,088, following
the unexpected failure of a sponsor.
Costs were cut to £168,879, but that
still left a shortfall of £58,790, which
was covered by funds carried forward
and the Special Reserve.
The financial situation was closely and
regularly monitored, and an external
consultant worked with the Board of
Trustees and staff to consider how to
strengthen the charity’s finances for
the long-term.
Steps are being taken to ensure that
we receive more income from the
global expansion of Zippy’s Friends,
and an appeal was launched to raise
£100,000 to help 100,000 children over
two years.
One significant development during the
year was the conclusion of our grants to
partner agencies in India and Lithuania.
Every Zippy’s Friends programme is
now locally funded.
Plans
In 2007 we aim to:
• Launch Zippy’s Friends in two more
countries
• Support the programme’s expansion
in existing countries
• Update and reprint the Zippy’s Friends
teaching materials
• Re-design and re-launch our website
• Publish a booklet of recommended
storybooks for young children
• Strengthen our financial position
• Recruit new Trustees

Partnership for Children is exactly that
– a partnership.
Our plans require the support of
many partners – teachers, parents,
academics, the agencies that run
Zippy’s Friends around the world, other
charities, international networks, and
our sponsors and supporters.
