Partnership for Children promotes the
emotional wellbeing of children and
young people throughout the world.
Our main activity is Zippy’s Friends, a
school-based programme that helps six
and seven year old children to develop
coping skills. The programme is unusual
because it helps children from different
countries and cultures – from Surrey to
São Paulo, Iceland to India. In 2006,
the number of children enrolled grew
by 56 per cent.
Zippy’s Friends is based on extensive
research, and helps children learn how
to identify and talk about their feelings,
how to make friends, how to resolve
conflicts and how to cope with change
and loss. The programme has been
professionally evaluated, and has been
featured in two publications by the
World Health Organisation.
We also run a website which provides
information and resources for parents
and teachers of young children
– www.partnershipforchildren.org.uk –
and are working with Booktrust
to produce a list of recommended
storybooks.
