relph admission scholarships
Professor Ted Relph recently retired as Chair of the Department of
Social Sciences. Professor Relph has been a tremendous supporter
of UTSC as an academic leader as well as a benefactor. Most recently,
he created the Relph Admission Scholarships, which support
academically strong incoming students with financial need.

Pacheco family
memorial award
Maria Pacheco, Assistant Registrar,
Financial Aid and Awards at UTSC,
wanted to commemorate the memory
of her parents, so she, along with
her brother Tony, created the Pacheco
Family Memorial entrance Award
in education. As a member of UTSC
staff and someone on the front
lines helping students in need,
Pacheco chose to give back to those
very students she serves.

In 2010/11, UTSC launched its
Regional Alumni Program. events
were held in ottawa, Vancouver,
Calgary, New york, California,
Hong Kong, London and other

young entrepreneurs
UTSC’s alumni continue to make waves as young entrepreneurs.
Satish Kanwar (BBA ’08) and Verne Ho (BBA ’07) are the
founders of Jet Cooper, a digital agency based in Toronto
that focuses on “humanizing digital” by creating user-friendly
beautiful products. In addition to its impressive client list,
Jet Cooper is heavily involved in important community
initiatives like Pay It Backwards Day and TeDxToronto.
$840,000
over $840,000 was awarded in admission scholarships to
328 students entering first year. Scholarships were funded in
part through the generous support of the University of Toronto
Annual Fund, as well as named scholarships established by
alumni and friends of UTSC.
$320,000
Special thanks to CUPe 3902, University of Toronto education workers, for creating
one of the largest endowments in recent UTSC history. Through a generous
donation of $160,000, which will be matched by the government of ontario, the
$320,000 endowment will support in perpetuity the CUPe 3902, University of
Toronto education workers entrance Scholarship at UTSC, whose goal is to award
12 admission scholarships per year.

Alumnus Ron Paquette responded to our
call for Annual Fund support because he
wanted to help students have the same
wonderful experience and education
he had. Through his company, ClearView
Strategic Partnerships, Paquette created
an endowment to fund scholarships for
both incoming and upper-year students.
