our campus and our
programs have put
“the global in the
local.” This sense of
international identity
provided by our students is matched by the diversity of
our programming. And as you read this Annual Review,
you’ll find some amazing examples of innovative
scholarship and research in the areas of health, global
communities and the environment.
None of these significant achievements would be possible
without the skills and commitment of our faculty and
staff. New breakthroughs in research, in combination
with engaged, passionate professors and staff who care,
make for an inspiring and stimulating environment for
our students. There’s a buzz here at UTSC and it continues
to grow and flourish. over the past three years, we’ve
added 65 new faculty and 59 new staff.
Two new leaders on campus deserve special mention.
The Dean of Student Affairs, Desmond Pouyat, continues
to build upon the services and programs that make the
UTSC campus experience vibrant and welcoming for
all our students. georgette Zinaty, executive Director,
Development & Alumni Relations, will be a critical player
in inspiring and connecting our stakeholders with our
vision for the future.
New people, new facilities and new programs have
brought new life to our campus.
given all these exciting developments, it was time to
revisit our identity, so that our new position as a mid-sized,
comprehensive, research-intensive university is better
represented in words and images. our new tagline
– Tomorrow is created here – communicates UTSC’s
promise to create opportunities for generations of
students and to contribute to a better future for all.
As always, we welcome your thoughts and invite
your feedback. Tomorrow is being created here at UTSC,
and we couldn’t do it without our students, faculty,
partners, alumni and friends.
