Raceday Hospitality<br />

As its name “Garden Racecourse” suggests it is probably the most<br />

attractive and intimate course in the country. During race days the<br />

atmosphere is truly unique – your guests or clients will be able to<br />

witness the top jockeys in action amid sumptuous surroundings<br />

with gourmet food and drink.<br />

Box Hire<br />

Rowels Boxes A range of private lunch rooms with viewing<br />

balconies are available to suit the size of any party from 25-100<br />

guests. This self-contained and highly private area in the main<br />

grandstand is accessible by lift and includes a Tote betting point.<br />

Hornblower Room An intimate and private building devoted<br />

solely to your party of up to 40 guests.<br />

Club Dining Room<br />

Small groups can be accommodated in the Club Dining Room.<br />

Subject to availability parties of up to 10 guests can reserve a<br />

table for a race meeting. A selection of tables are allocated on<br />

a first come first serve basis on every raceday.<br />

An “A La Carte” menu is served in the Club Dining Room with a<br />

choice of three or four courses. The menu changes between race<br />

meetings - please speak to the caterers if you require a menu<br />

sending prior to your visit. The approximate cost for a meal is<br />

between £20 - £30 per person.<br />

All table reservations should be made directly with the caterers<br />

(please note a reservation fee of £5 per person is charged).<br />

As the name suggests you are able to dine whilst viewing a day’s<br />

racing; with a private balcony offering panoramic views across the<br />

racecourse. This Dine and View restaurant is a shared facility<br />

located in the main grandstand. Private tables to accommodate<br />

any number (subject to availability).<br />

Always a stylish and colourful occasion, Ladies’ Day features a<br />

glorious afternoon of racing together with Fashion Marquee &<br />

Shows.<br />

This day seems to be getting bigger and better every year, so<br />

FAQ’s / New Racegoers<br />

What time do gates open?<br />

When should I get to the Racecourse?<br />

Gates open two hours before the first race or on a Saturday from 12 midday.<br />

Traffic can build up on a raceday especially on weekend fixtures so it is<br />

always advisable to arrive in plenty of time. There is plenty to do and see at<br />

the racecourse before the racing starts- enjoy some food and drink or<br />

familiarise yourself with the racecourse layout.<br />

What’s the difference between a Standard and Feature day?<br />

The main difference is the crowd size; Saturdays (a Feature Day) tend to be<br />

the busiest days so please bear this in mind when booking your trip .<br />

Parking<br />

Parking is completely FREE. The car park can get busy so ensure you arrive<br />

early to get close to the entrance.<br />

Dress Code<br />

Club Enclosure – we ask that customers dress respectably – The <strong>Ripon</strong><br />

Racecourse view on smart casual is no blue denim, sportswear, trainers,<br />

t-shirts or shorts.<br />

Paddock / Course Enclosure – There is no formal dress code for these<br />

areas but we do ask that people still dress in a manner of taste and<br />

decency. Bare chests are not acceptable.<br />

Are there disabled facilities?<br />

We have limited disabled parking outside the Racecourse entrance;<br />

these are on a first come basis and cannot be reserved. The remainder of<br />

the car parking is on flat ground but mainly grassed. Inside the racecourse<br />

it is fairly easy to get about with plenty of flat tarmac walkways. There are<br />

disabled toilets and most of the bars and restaurants are accessible for<br />

wheelchair users. Many disabled visitors have commented that the ability<br />

to bring a car onto the Course Enclosure and park directly adjacent to the<br />

track is a great advantage. There are also raised viewing points in the Club<br />

and Paddock areas.<br />

Train - The nearest stations are Harrogate (11 miles), Thirsk (11<br />

miles) and York (27 miles).<br />

Buses -<br />

142, 143 – York – Boroughbridge – <strong>Ripon</strong><br />

Road - FREE PARKING AT THE RACECOURSE<br />

<strong>Ripon</strong> is most easily accessed by the A1(M).<br />

Approaching from the South, leave the A1 at the turning to <strong>Ripon</strong><br />

(junction 48), which is just after the Harrogate exit, and follow the brown<br />

signs for <strong>Ripon</strong> Cathedral and you’ll soon pick up racecourse signs.<br />

Once over a fairly narrow bridge (after the Blackamoor pub) you will be<br />

approaching the Racecourse on your left, the first entrance is the Cars<br />

on Course and the second entrance is the main free car park with access<br />

to the Club or Paddock Enclosure and also the Course if you are<br />

planning on walking into the centre at a price per person.<br />

Approaching from the North, leave the A1 where it is joined by<br />

the A61 which becomes the <strong>Ripon</strong> bypass. Turn left at the third<br />

roundabout and the racecourse is just a few hundred yards on the right.<br />

The first entrance on your right will be the main free car park with<br />

access to the Club or Paddock Enclosure and also the Course if you are<br />

planning on walking into the centre at a price per person, if you are<br />

wanting the Car on Course Enclosure this is the second entrance on the<br />

right which allows you to drive into the centre of the racecourse.<br />

Approaching either from the East or the West, take the A61 to<br />

the <strong>Ripon</strong> bypass and follow the brown signs to the racecourse.<br />
