This diagnostic is typically Selective Catalyst Reduction (SCR) Outlet NOx Sens<strong>or</strong> Failure to Activate.<br />
1. Connect DDDL/DDRS.<br />
2. Is SPN 5357 FMI 16 <strong>or</strong> 18 also present?<br />
a. Yes; repair those fault codes first.<br />
b. No; Go to step 3.<br />
3. Monit<strong>or</strong> (chart) the following parameters.<br />
• ASL102 engine speed<br />
• AS018 SCR inlet temperature<br />
• AS019 SCR outlet temperature<br />
• AS035 SCR inlet NOx sens<strong>or</strong><br />
• AS036 SCR outlet NOx sens<strong>or</strong><br />
• AS101 NOx conversion efficiency<br />
WARNING: ENGINE EXHAUST (i)(eov34)<br />
To avoid injury from inhaling engine exhaust, always operate the engine in a well-ventilated area.<br />
Engine exhaust is toxic.<br />
WARNING: PERSONAL INJURY (eov84)<br />
To avoid injury bef<strong>or</strong>e starting and running the engine, ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface,<br />
parking brake is set, and the wheels are blocked.<br />
WARNING: HOT EXHAUST (eng38)<br />
During parked regeneration the exhaust gases will be extremely HOT and could cause a fire if directed<br />
at combustible materials. The vehicle must be parked outside.<br />
4. Start the engine and perf<strong>or</strong>m a parked regeneration. Does the NOx conversion efficiency rise above 70% (0.70) during<br />
the regeneration?<br />
a. Yes; clear faults and release vehicle.<br />
