Headquarters and about a 50-minute drive to the International Airport, approximately 37km.

All participants will be accommodated
at the Windsor Barra Hotel. The
Welcome Desk is located on the
second floor of the hotel, providing
overall information.
The Opening and Closing Plenary will
take place in the Segovia Rooms I, II
and III, while the Breakout Sessions will
be hosted in various meeting rooms
located on the same floor.
The IOC-Rio 2016 joint reception on
Monday 19 November will be hosted
at the Fogo de Chão Restaurant, at
Av. Reporter Nestor Moreira, Botafogo
beach. Transport will be provided.

in the lobby. Enjoy Brazilian cuisine as
well as international dishes that mix
refinement and good taste from
around the world. On Saturdays, try
our wonderful feijoada, which gives
a special Brazilian touch to the menu.

à la carte.

panoramic bar with the beautiful sunset

Safety tips
In order to fully enjoy your trip we advise
that you exercise caution when visiting
certain areas of the city, i.e. Downtown
and Copacabana, after dark. As a
precautionary measure, we also warn
against frequent use of technology
devices (iPods, iPhones, iPads and
flashy cameras), wearing expensive
jewellery and walking around with
large sums of money.

Sugar Loaf Mountain

The mountain is 396m (1,299ft) high,
and to get to the top you first have to
take a cable car to the mountain of
Urca, which is 224m (774ft) high, and
from there take another cable car to
the top. The Portuguese gave it the
name ‘Sugar Loaf’ because its shape
reminded them of the shape of a ‘loaf’
of refined white sugar in Madeira. From
the top of the mountain you have great
view of Copacabana Beach, Downtown,
Flamengo and Botafogo.
Cristo Redentor
(Statue of Christ the Redeemer)
The statue of Christ the Redeemer,
recently voted one of the Seven Wonders
of the Modern World, is located at the
top of Corcovado Mountain. Overlooking
the city of Rio de Janeiro, the statue
of Christ the Redeemer is 30m high,
making it one of the tallest statues in the
world, the span from fingertip to fingertip
is 28m. There is a small chapel housed
in the base.

Botanical Garden

The Botanical Gardens were opened
on 13 June 1808 by D. João VI, Prince
Regent at the time, and is considered to
be the one of the most important in the
world. Recognised as a Live Museum,
it contains over eight thousand plant
species.
