Target Audience<br />

This conference is ideal for orthopaedists, primary<br />

care physicians, geriatricians, hospitalists, physical<br />

therapists, physician assistants, nurse practitioners<br />

and other allied health pr<strong>of</strong>essionals who care for<br />

geriatric orthopaedic patients.<br />

Learning Objectives<br />

Upon completion <strong>of</strong> this educational activity,<br />

• Summarize the operative and non-operative<br />

management <strong>of</strong> common osteoporotic fractures<br />

including hip, acetabular, and distal radial<br />

fractures.<br />

• Identify the elderly patient at risk for delirium<br />

and apply delirium prevention and treatment<br />

strategies.<br />

• Identify successful care team strategies in the<br />

co-management <strong>of</strong> elderly fracture patients.<br />

• Compassionately discuss end-<strong>of</strong>-life issues with<br />

patients and families.<br />

• Recognize osteoporotic fractures as an<br />

opportunity to improve bone health and prevent<br />

additional fractures.<br />
