Connecticut College NEW LONDON, CT - Grace Hall, a member of the class of 2016 at Connecticut College and a resident of Belchertown, has been named to the dean’s high honors list for the 2012 fall semester. Virginia Tech BLACKSBURG, VA - John R. McCutcheon, of Amherst, enrolled at Virginia Tech was named to the dean’s list for the fall 2012 semester. To qualify for the dean’s list, students must attempt at least 12 credit hours graded on the A- F option and earn a 3.4 grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) during the semester. He is a junior majoring in civil engineering in the College of Engineering. Lafayette College EASTON, PA - The names of 734 Lafayette College students recognized for academic honor on the 2012 fall semester dean’s list have been announced. Adam Chrzanowski from Westfield will also get some time at first base, and is a potential closer for the Cougars. “He throws about 90 miles per hour,” said Murphy. “I think he could shut down a team in the last inning every few days.” Jose Rivera of Holyoke and Clayton Beaulieu from Chicopee will spend time at second base and shortstop. Each can play both positions and Murphy will be working with both at each. Third base will be occupied by both Beaulieu and Albertson. Outfielders to see significant time include James Edinger from Gateway and Remy and Greg Boylan from Gateway are also expected to see time in the outfield. Lee Winkler, a former pitcher and outfield for Southwick, will be a middle reliever and could possibly serve as a designated hitter. “He has not played in a couple of years, but he is coachable and we like what we have seen in his bullpens and batting practice,” said Murphy. Holyoke has a long road schedule with most of their home comes coming later in the season. HCC’s first home game is on Monday, April 8, against SNHU. Gregory A. To be eligible for this honor a student must carry 14 or more credits and achieve a grade point average of 3.5. Atkinson made the dean’s list for his distinguished work overall. Endicott College BEVERLY – Endicott College is pleased to announce that Kevin Dupras, of Belchertown, was named to the dean’s list students for fall, 2012. In order to qualify for the dean’s list, a student must obtain a minimum grade point average of 3.5, receive no grade below a “C,” and be enrolled in a minimum of 12 credits for the semester. Dupras is the son of Rene and Annemarie Dupras of Belchertown. He is a senior majoring in Criminal Justice. Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts NORTH ADAMS – Cynthia Brown, vice president for academic affairs at Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (MCLA), has announced that Alexandra Werbicki, of Belchertown, was placed on the dean’s list for the fall 2012 semester. Werbicki earned a 3.9 GPA. Gettysburg College GETTYSBURG, PA - Andrew Astley of Granby, has been placed the deans’ commendation list at Gettysburg College for outstanding academic achievement in the fall 2012 semester. College NOTES UMass Lowell LOWELL - Local residents were recently recognized for achieving academic distinction during the University of Massachusetts Lowell’s fall 2012 semester. To qualify for the dean’s list, students must have completed at least 12 graded credits for the semester, have at least a 3.25 grade point average with no grade lower than C and may not have any incompletes. A junior at Westfield State University, Whitehead is majoring in Criminal Justice at the University. He earned a 3.6 grade point average. Jordyn Bradway of Belchertown, received academic honors at Westfield State University by making the university’s dean’s list for the fall 2012 semester with a 3.5 grade point average. A sophomore at Westfield State University, Bradway is majoring in Criminal Justice at the University. Villanova University VILLANOVA, PA - Jason Labrie, from Granby, was named to the dean’s list at Villanova University for the fall 2012 semester. Labrie is studying Environmental Science in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. Western New England University SPRINGFIELD - The following students received degrees from Western New England University on Feb. 15: Kyle J. Wolf of Granby, graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree.
