It was held at CMS Kanpur Road Campus. Delegates arrived from 12 countries and lived here for a whole month with weekend breaks with the host families. National nights at the camp were special occasions when the delegations cooked their traditional food for all the campus. At the Open Day of the camp, held on 13 January, 2011, the delegates dressed up in their national costumes presented their country's culture through songs, dances and skits. The aim of Hum Saath Saath Hain Village was to foster cross cultural friendships and build strong relationships between children in a multilingual and multicultural setting. When the time arrived for the children to depart and fly back to their respective countries on 24 January, most of them were in tears. The emotions they had built up for a month have created strong bonds of CISV delegation from Guatemala friendship that touched their hearts and they became the ambassadors of love, hope, peace and unity. The camp sowed the seeds of a better world in the future. It was a positive step in breaking the barriers of caste, creed, race and colour – so aptly expressed in the CISV song – Here in this village you may see Children living happily Different race and different land Here we come to understand One another's point of view Learning through the things we do How alike am I to you Here we live and eat and sleep Talk and laugh and sometimes weep Here we share our hopes and fears Build a bridge across the years Sow a seed and plant a tree Beneath whose branches there may be All the nations gathered free That our children so may grow In a world we did not know Sharing all they have to give Learning how to love and live In our hands the future lies Seize the moment there it flies Stamp the present with an act Dare to make our dreams a fact.
