The AL-Fi System has been developed by <strong>AST</strong> to offer a universal and<br />
flexible solution to camshaft timing on ALFA ROMEO and FIAT 16v. engines.<br />
Engine timing and belt replacement on this range of engines requires the<br />
camshafts to be ‘set’ in their ‘timed’ positions by use of Camshaft Setting<br />
Plates fixed on the engine in place of designated bearing caps at specified<br />
cylinder locations.<br />
The AL-Fi concept is based on Universal Support Blocks (one for all inlet<br />
camshafts and one for all exhaust camshafts), on to which a range of<br />
inter-changeable Setting Plates can be mounted.<br />
Each group of Setting Plates cover a range of engines thus avoiding the<br />
need for lots of single dedicated ‘engine specific’ camshaft plates<br />
The initial application range can be easily expanded simply by adding further<br />
Setting Plate Sets covering more models and engines as the need arises.<br />
