• Works to maintain ongoing relationships with<br />
key arts, arts education, education, community,<br />
corporate and o<strong>the</strong>r leaders<br />
• Works with Board Members to ensure financial<br />
needs of <strong>the</strong> organization are met, including<br />
fundraising and membership development<br />
• Works with Board Members to ensure strategic<br />
planning and evaluation processes are developed<br />
and implemented<br />
• Works with Board nominating committee to identify,<br />
recruit, train and reward State Alliance leaders and<br />
o<strong>the</strong>r arts education leaders in <strong>the</strong> state<br />
• Serves as primary contact <strong>for</strong> <strong>KCAAEN</strong><br />
Qualifications: Suitable candidates <strong>for</strong> this position<br />
will have an interest and/or background in <strong>the</strong> arts,<br />
arts education and/or education and a demonstrated<br />
knowledge of how policy and programs which<br />
support arts education are created and evaluated.<br />
Suitable candidates will have demonstrated<br />
knowledge and experience in not-<strong>for</strong>-profit<br />
management, including working with a Board<br />
of Directors and volunteer leaders.<br />
Job Description: Board Member<br />
Role: Serves as a volunteer leader of <strong>the</strong> State<br />
Alliance. Works with <strong>the</strong> Chair, Board of Directors,<br />
and, where present, <strong>the</strong> Executive Director<br />
and/or Executive Committee to participate in <strong>the</strong><br />
development and implementation of programs<br />
and services of <strong>the</strong> State Alliance.<br />
Responsibilities:<br />
• Regularly attends Board meetings, as well as any<br />
committee meetings or task <strong>for</strong>ces assigned<br />
• Works to maintain ongoing relationships with<br />
key arts, arts education, education, community,<br />
corporate and o<strong>the</strong>r leaders throughout <strong>the</strong> state<br />
which provide opportunities <strong>for</strong> fur<strong>the</strong>ring <strong>the</strong><br />
mission of <strong>the</strong> State Alliance<br />
• Works with o<strong>the</strong>r Board Members to ensure<br />
financial needs of <strong>the</strong> organization are met, including<br />
fundraising and membership development<br />
• Works to maintain solid working relationships<br />
with state agency partners and o<strong>the</strong>r collaborating<br />
organizations, in accordance with his/her role on<br />
<strong>the</strong> Alliance board<br />
• Represents <strong>the</strong> Alliance at public events and may<br />
be authorized to serve as an official representative<br />
of <strong>the</strong> Alliance in entering into legal agreements<br />
• Understands <strong>the</strong> development and implementation<br />
of arts, arts education, education legislation and<br />
policy at both state and local levels<br />
• Works with o<strong>the</strong>r Board Members to ensure<br />
strategic plans and evaluation processes are<br />
developed and implemented<br />
• Works with Board nominating committee to<br />
identify, recruit, train, and reward State Alliance<br />
leaders and o<strong>the</strong>r arts education leaders in <strong>the</strong> state.<br />
• Is familiar with <strong>KCAAEN</strong> and its initiatives in<br />
his/her capacity as a Board Member of <strong>the</strong> State<br />
Alliance which is a Member of <strong>the</strong> <strong>KCAAEN</strong>.<br />
• Is willing to assume leadership roles to include<br />
committee/task <strong>for</strong>ce Chair, Secretary, Treasurer,<br />
Chair/President<br />
