7.4 <strong>Argo</strong>nautics Newsletter<br />

M. Scanderbeg presented ideas for the next <strong>Argo</strong>nautics Newsletter which will likely be<br />

published by the end of June. Proposed articles include trajectory work done by M. Ollitrault and<br />

JP Rannou, the new Google Earth layer showcasing <strong>Argo</strong> and a surface pressure offset<br />

updated. Additional articles include float technology updates for the ARVOR, SOLO-II and<br />

Deep NINJA floats, an explanation of the Euro<strong>Argo</strong> educational website, <strong>meeting</strong> summaries<br />

and a description of the newest ship to deploy floats – the Lady Amber.<br />

7.5 <strong>Argo</strong> outreach activities<br />

7.5.1 Education outreach in South Africa<br />

Dr Juliet Hermes of the South African Environmental Observation Network (SAEON), gave a<br />

presentation on <strong>Argo</strong> Outreach activities in South Africa (and a quick SA/regional update!) on<br />

behalf of Thomas Mtontsi, SAEON; Isabelle Ansorge and Chris Reason, University of Cape<br />
