Through “ADVANCED OPTICS BY SCIENCE”, uvex works with leading 

scientists to initiate independent research projects. 

People often complain about the higher order of aberration in 

safety eyewear, citing difficulties in seeing clearly, such as:

• Reduction of contrast sensitivity 

• Traffic light or head lights in twilight appear distorted or with halo

Research conducted by Prof. Michelson and Prof. Langenbucher

uvex coating expertise together with continuous research and 

development has resulted in three new intelligent coating systems: 

uvex variomatic lenses are especially suitable 

for workers in mixed light conditions and 

provide 100% UV protection. The lenses have 

a switching time of 10 seconds from light 

to dark (to protect against sun glare) and 30 

seconds from dark to light. 

uvex supravision extreme lenses combine 

superior THSng anti-fog coating (on the inside) 

with superior HC3000 anti-scratch coating 

(on the outside).
