A Message from Our Priests
This weekend, 67 children from our
parish are receiving Jesus in the
Eucharist for the first time. We are
very proud of our candidates and their
families! The names of the First
Communicants are found on the right.
May the enthusiasm of our
candidates for this important occasion
in their faith lives, may their genuine
reverence for Jesus present in the gift
of the Eucharist and may their
uninhibited excitement for worship, all
have a positive effect on the members
of our parish community.
If we, as adults, could recapture some
of the child-like faith and excitement of
our little ones, we might enrich the
practice of our faith and deepen our
sense of gratitude for the reception of
our Lord in the gift of the Eucharist,
especially, during this Year of Faith!
In 2063, we hope a number of the
members of our 2013 First Communion
class will find a reminder on their
Outlook calendars, etc. to come to Mass
here at St. Dominic to give thanks for
the gift of receiving Jesus in the Holy
Eucharist for fifty years. Although they
will still be shy of 60 years old, they
will certainly have had enough life
experiences to know how much the
presence of the Eucharistic Jesus can
make in anyone’s spiritual life.

Election of a Parish Trustee (Third Notice)
The Charter of St. Dominic Catholic Parish states that our congregation will
have two trustees as officers of the parish to assist in attending to its affairs.
Jerry Buting’s current two-year term will be expiring at the end of May. As
Pastor, I am asked to present a qualified candidate to the parish. Grateful for all
the help that Michael Ricci and Jerry have been in assisting me in my ministry as
your Pastor and with his permission, I would like to nominate Jerry Buting for
another two-year term of service.
Jerry served as an active participant on the Parish Council for three years,
serving as the Council Chairperson during the 2005/06 fiscal year. In many
ways, Jerry has demonstrated his love for his Catholic faith, his love for St.
Dominic Catholic Parish and his willingness to work hard to help make our
parish a vibrant community of faith, now and in the future. Jerry is married to
Kathy and they have two children, Stephen and Grace.
The parish charter also allows any practicing Catholic member of the parish, at
least 25 years old, to place his/her name in nomination, in writing, accompanied
by signatures of at least 10 adult practicing parish members. Nominations need
to be received in the Parish Center by Wednesday, May 15, 2013. If you have
any questions about the responsibilities, expectations, meeting schedule and
time commitment of the trustee position, please contact me at my office in the

A Message From Our Pastor
This week, Father Brad and I will be joining brother priests
and our Bishops for our annual Spring Assembly of Priests,
which begins on Monday at noon and concludes Wednesday at
noon. This year will be the 29th assembly and is entitled “In
Christ There is No East or West: Embracing our Diversity and
the Social Message of Jesus”.
As part of the activities of this year's assembly, we will also
spend time praying and worshipping our Lord; we will honor the jubilarians , as
well as, newly retired priests; we will offer a special welcome to those who will
be newly ordained priests and brothers who will serve our Archdiocese as of
May 18th , and then, there will be some time just to relax and enjoy the company
of one another and discuss the new assignments for priests moving this spring.
As diocesan priests, we need these few days to celebrate the joy of ordained
ministry and to recommit ourselves to do our best to be good and faithful
priests. Please keep all the priests of our Archdiocese in your prayers during
this year's assembly. Thanks.

St. Dominic Parish Endowment Fund
The Board of Directors of the Parish Endowment Fund reports on the progress
of the growth of the Fund to our parish community on an annual basis.
The primary goal of the Endowment Fund is for the furtherance of Catholic
education and formation, including both the parish day school and lifelong faith
formation programs. The fund requires that the principal amount of any gift
remains intact. Only earnings generated from the principal are used to support
the mission of the Fund. Over the past few years, $18,900 has been
transferred out of the Fund to allow for the use of tuition assistance grants
for the day school and formation programs.
As of the end of the 2012 calendar year, the Fund balance totaled
$361,962. Over the past ten years, the Fund has grown from $164,543 to the
current balance, through returns on investments and generous donations.
Contributions of all amounts are appreciated, with donors of $1,000 or more
given in a year, being recognized on a plaque in the north narthex of church.

Tax deductible gifts of cash, stocks, bonds or mutual funds can be made

preparing your estate planning documents. The Endowment Fund can also be
named as a designee in planning for funeral memorials. For more information,
please call the Parish Center and speak with Father Dave Reith or Karen Chaffee,
Director of Finance.

April Showers Bring May Flowers
When the crocuses, daffodils and hyacinths are blooming, you can’t help yourself from giving honor and glory to God’s
creation.
“Why Catholics Care for Creation”, in Catholic Update,
October, 2008, points out that our responsibility for earth
is rooted in our faith.
“Looking to Scripture, we know from the Genesis
creation stories, that all that God created was “good.” God
also gave man and woman the responsibility to care for
creation. “Have dominion over the fish of the sea, the birds
of the air, and all the living things that move on the
earth” (Gn 1:28), calls for men and women to be
caretakers and tenders of the Creator’s garden.”
“The Catechism of the Catholic Church also instructs that use of the earth’s resources is not absolute: “. . . it is limited by
concern for the quality of life of his/her neighbor, including generations to come; it requires a religious respect for the
integrity of creation” (#2415).
Every singular, action makes a difference. Turning down the thermostat, conserving precious water, recycling, investing
in energy-efficient appliances and light bulbs, carpooling or riding your bike instead of driving, or writing a message to
encourage others to do the same. How do you tend the Creator’s garden?

St. Dominic

has openings at
all grade levels,
K3-8, for the 2013-14 school year.
Educational grant money is
available to St. Dominic School
families that have a financial need.
Applications for grant money are
available from the school principal at
the time of registration and during
the school year. Acceptance of the
education grant application is made
by the Pastor, School Principal and
the Educational Grant Committee.

St. Dominic “Pride”
I’d like to take the opportunity to share with you
information about our 4K, and the wonderful teacher in
charge of the program, Mrs. Danita Stich.
Mrs. Stich started the K4 program here at St. Dominic
School in 1991. Prior to that, she served as a teacher in
Chicago, Milwaukee and Brookfield.
Listen to what some of our past students have to say about
their K4 experience. They were eager to share their
memories from almost ten years ago:
“I loved Mrs. Stich because she was always in a good mood. She was there to help
and she made learning super fun. I loved the fun field trips, prize-box and games in
the room. I also loved snack time with the milk bags.” (Rachel Brielmaier)
“When I was in K4, I remember marching around the school in our Halloween
outfits. I also remember the Easter Egg Hunt and searching for eggs around the
school. The best part was the 100 day celebration and wearing clothing with 100
things on it!” (Patrick O’Grady)
Mrs. Stich believes in providing many varied and exciting experiences for her
K4 students. Her interactions with her students help them to develop a positive
self-concept as well as good emotional development.
Like all of our teachers, Mrs. Stich works very hard to provide an exceptional
Catholic Education for her students. For the first time in many years, we actually
will have a few spaces available for students in next year’s afternoon K4 class.
The morning is full. If you know of any families that have a child that will be in
K4 next year, please encourage them to call the school office at 262.783.7565 to

A Support Group For The
Divorced & Separated
Single Again is a quad-parish
support group for those in the
process of divorce and beyond.

Instead, it is a beautiful and compassionate portrait of the
resiliency of the human spirit when faced with death,
despair, and unconscionable suffering. Set in an unnamed
city by the sea, it is the story of four disenfranchised
strangers -- a widow, a young student, and two tailors --
who are forced by their impoverished circumstances to
share a cramped apartment. Initially distrustful of one
another, Dina, Maneck, Ishvar, and Om gradually build loving, familial bonds and
learn together "to maintain a fine balance between hope and despair" in a society
suddenly turned inhumanly cruel and corrupt.

3. Monitor all programs for the safety of
children and youth.
4. Be aware of and sensitive to what is going
on in the lives of children.
5. Communicate concerns to the appropriate
person in authority.
