This week the Pennington SWCD will be sponsoring a well water testing clinic. Homeowners wanting their private well water tested for nitrates, E.coli, and total coliform bacteria may pick up sample bottles at the SWCD office from Monday, August 13th to Wednesday, August 15th between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. The water sample must be collected Thursday, August 16th and returned to the SWCD by 4:30 p.m. Samples are sent to a certified lab for analysis. The Pennington SWCD will pay 50% of the cost; homeowners are responsible to pay $10 at the time they pick up their sample bottles. Due to a limited number of bottles we will be handing them out on a first-come-first-serve basis. Pennington SWCD sponsors well screening clinics with discounted prices each year. However, sample bottles are available at full price year round. If you would like more information or have any questions about the clinic, please contact Peter Nelson, Water Plan Coordinator at 218-683-7075. Funeral services were held Friday, August 10, 2012 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Plummer, with Rev. Terri Cuppett and Rev. Jonathan Dodson officiating. Erickson, 73 Deer River - Ellwood Lee “Eric” Erickson of Deer River died on Saturday, Aug. 4, 2012 at the age of 73. He is survived locally by his wife, Sharon (Ford) of Red Lake Falls.
