Old-fashioned picnic
to be held Aug. 16
Picnic baskets, blankets
spread upon the grass, and
three-legged races are just a few
of the memories of picnics from
the past. Picnics were a time of
good food, fun and fellowship in
the sun.
On Thursday, Aug. 16, the
Marshall County Historical
Society staff and volunteers will
host an opportunity for kids to
experience an old-fashioned picnic
with old fashioned games
from 1:30 to 3 p.m. at Settlers
Square in Warren. This will be
an opportunity for young people
to enjoy games with no wires,
batteries or Internet connections
attached. Others who may
be interested, are also welcome
to attend.
Small bag lunches will be
prepared with half a sandwich,
some fruit, and a treat.
However, attendees may want
to eat their regular lunch before
they come. This is because the
group will be eating later, and
the bag lunch will be more like a
mid-afternoon “snack” for many
people.
Altru to offer
renal dialysis
in Crookston
In an effort to increase access
to care, Altru plans to open a
renal dialysis unit at Altru
Clinic in Crookston in early
2013. Altru Clinic began a
remodeling project in June to
provide space for eight dialysis
chairs.
“We are thrilled to expand
our renal dialysis services in the
region. Doing so will not only
improve continuity of patient
care but also help reduce the
costs by eliminating travel,”
said Kerry Carlson, administrative
director of medical specialty
care.
With the increasing need for
dialysis care, patients will
receive services in the comfort of
their hometown. Altru’s Renal
Dialysis offers services in Grand
Forks and Devils Lake, N.D.
Recently, a third site was
opened in Roseau, in collaboration
with LifeCare Medical
Center. Altru Clinic in
Crookston will host the fourth
site for this growing service.
