The State Road Safety Campaign, Operation Christmas 2012 has started. The operation covers the busy
period from December 2012 and into January 2013.
FATAL FOUR becomes FIVE—the five targets include Fatigue, Drink Driving, Seatbelts,
Distraction/Inattention and Speed.
These will be enforced throughout the Central Region and Statewide.
Distraction and inattention includes for example:
Foggy windscreen;
Indicating one way then driving another; or
Vehicle not giving way to emergency vehicle.
Fatigue is a common talking point over this time and drivers must remember to take regular breaks on long
journeys. Sufficient rest prior is the key. RACQ have a brilliant website in planning your trip, it contains
roadways, rest areas and distances to proposed locations.
High volumes of Police will be patrolling all highways and drivers are reminded to set their cruise control
(if attached), obey the speed limit and be patient on the road.
A common question we get asked is “What if I am being tailgated”.
If you are being tailgated or getting frustrated by a driver, the answer is to pull over at the nearest
opportunity and let the vehicle pass.
We want all our drivers to get to their location and not to become a road fatality.
“REST, REVIVE & SURVIVE”
For any further information you can search the Department of Transport or the Queensland Police Website.
you're just minutes away
from a relaxing break with
some free refreshments.
