Purpose <strong>of</strong> the role: <br />

The <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Portsmouth</strong> Graduate Trainee Programme will provide a 12 month paid work <br />

experience opportunity in one <strong>of</strong> the university pr<strong>of</strong>essional services. Pr<strong>of</strong>essional services include <br />

Finance, Sport <strong>and</strong> Recreation, Human Resources, Department for Curriculum <strong>and</strong> Quality <br />

Enhancement, Marketing <strong>and</strong> the Library. <br />

The aim is to place graduates into roles, or projects, which will use their skills <strong>and</strong> knowledge to <br />

make a valuable contribution to the pr<strong>of</strong>essional service, whilst gaining experience for their future <br />

graduate career. <br />

The 12 month training programme will also provide pr<strong>of</strong>essional development support, which will <br />

include an induction, quarterly meetings, networking, review meetings, careers management <br />

workshops <strong>and</strong> careers advice, CV help <strong>and</strong> support from the Purple Door Recruitment Team. <br />

Key Responsibilities: <br />

The duties <strong>and</strong> responsibilities within each opportunity will vary according to the pr<strong>of</strong>essional <br />

services area. <br />

Each trainee will receive regular support <strong>and</strong> supervision from their Line Manager <strong>and</strong> be mentored <br />

by an appropriate member <strong>of</strong> staff. <br />

Trainees will be expected to actively engage with the programme, make a commitment to complete <br />

the 12 months training <strong>and</strong> demonstrate a positive <strong>and</strong> pr<strong>of</strong>essional attitude, approach <strong>and</strong> <br />

contribution.
