Closing of Indo-German Urban Mela
Associates in focus
The Indo-German Urban Mela, started its epic journey in
Mumbai early 2012 and then toured Bangalore, Chennai
and Delhi. It ended its itinerary with the last showcase
in Pune early last year. The 10-day travelling exhibition
in Pune took place at the Deccan College Ground in
Yerawada, from January 11th to 20th. It was part of the
celebrations titled "Germany and India 2011-2012: Infinite
Opportunities" to commemorate 60 years of Indo-German
diplomatic ties. The 12 specially designed pavilions came
to life with interactive presentations which showed how
the problem of cities could be addressed. This unique
German road show had over 3,70,000 visitors.
Women at Bosch pioneering change
There is a general notion that despite many positive
social changes, India remains a male-centric society. And
manufacturing industry even more so.
Diversity has contributed to the success of company. The
women at Bosch India are just a few among many women
who are pioneering change.
Inclusion of women at work place has become a key factor
in achieving national success. Bosch India understands
this issue and has taken measures to achieve a balance of
gender. Today the number of women employed at Bosch
locations in India is gradually increasing. Bosch India was
able to achieve a target of 23.1% of female hires out of the
total technical hires in the country.
Saritha Poovanna – the only woman heading a
manufacturing department at the Bangalore plant, and
the only woman in the common rail pump team, aptly
summarizes the changing times having joined Bosch over
14 years ago – “There is increased acceptability of women
in different roles and an understanding of the advantages
that a truly diverse team brings to the organization”.
