Critical Issues for Chrome-free Pretreatment of Aluminium Alloys Grinding and Machining • This has been studied in detail for automotive closure sheet applications of alloys like AA6016 and AA6111 • The body-in-white undergoes rectification before finishing • The mechanically ground layer developed during rectification of closure panel surfaces is not removed during the finishing operation • On non-ground surfaces a high resistance to filiform corrosion is achieved using a fluoroacid passivation treatment.
