6. TIME DURATION OF CONTESTS<br />

Men & Women<br />

Five minutes <strong>and</strong> golden score 3 minutes<br />

Men under 20 years<br />

Four minutes <strong>and</strong> golden score 2 minutes<br />

& Women under 20 years<br />

Boys under 17 years<br />

Four minutes <strong>and</strong> golden score 2 minutes<br />

& Girls under 17 years<br />

Note: any contestant is entitled to rest between contests for a period <strong>of</strong> minimum 10 minutes.<br />

7. SYSTEM OF COMPETITION (see page 58 regarding <strong>the</strong> various repechages)<br />

7.1 An elimination system with repechage starting at <strong>the</strong> quarter-final (last 8), i.e. for all<br />

categories <strong>the</strong> competitors will be divided into two tables by means <strong>of</strong> a “draw”, <strong>and</strong> an<br />

elimination system will be used to produce two finalists, who will compete for <strong>the</strong> gold<br />

medal.<br />

The competitors defeated in <strong>the</strong> quarter-final will compete in two repechage contests:<br />

The winners <strong>of</strong> each <strong>of</strong> this two repechage contests will compete in Bronze medal<br />

contests against <strong>the</strong> loser <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> semifinal contest <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> respective opposite table.<br />

The winners (2) <strong>of</strong> those contests are placed third;<br />

The losers (2) are placed fifth;<br />

The losers (2) <strong>of</strong> repechage contests are placed seventh.<br />

7.2 An elimination system without repechage with 2 bronze medals for defeated semifinalists<br />

For Team Championships see in annex <strong>the</strong> regulations (annex N°1)<br />

8.1 For <strong>the</strong> Senior Men <strong>and</strong> Women World Championships, each National <strong>Federation</strong> may<br />

enter maximum two competitors in each <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> weight categories, i.e. a total <strong>of</strong> 28 (7<br />

categories for each gender).<br />

8.2 For <strong>the</strong> Senior Men <strong>and</strong> Women World Championships in Open category each National<br />

<strong>Federation</strong> may enter maximum 4 competitors.<br />

8.3 For <strong>the</strong> Junior World Championships (men <strong>and</strong> women under 20), each National<br />

<strong>Federation</strong> may enter maximum two competitors in each <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> weight category, i.e. a total<br />

<strong>of</strong> 32 (8 weight categories only for each gender, no open category).<br />

8.4 For <strong>the</strong> Cadets World Championships (boys <strong>and</strong> girls under 17), each National<br />

<strong>Federation</strong> may enter maximum two competitors in each <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> weight category, i.e. a total<br />

<strong>of</strong> 32 (8 weight categories only for each gender, no open category).<br />

8.5 Competitors may only be entered in <strong>the</strong> weight category to which <strong>the</strong>y belong.<br />

8.6 A competitor may not be entered in more than one weight category except for <strong>the</strong><br />

Senior Men <strong>and</strong> Women World Championships in which he can be entered also in open<br />

category.<br />

8.7 Competitors from three different countries must compete in a category in order for<br />

that category to be held in <strong>the</strong> Championships.<br />

8. ENTRIES<br />

The participating National <strong>Federation</strong>s must submit a preliminary entry (number <strong>of</strong><br />

competitors) three months before <strong>the</strong> date <strong>of</strong> competition. The final entry (stating names,<br />

weight categories, world ranking list number) 10 days before <strong>the</strong> date <strong>of</strong> competition<br />

through <strong>the</strong> IJF online registration, which is available on <strong>the</strong> IJF website. The IJF online<br />

registration is obligatory.<br />

Note: Entries for Open Categories must be confirmed or done <strong>the</strong> day before <strong>the</strong> competition<br />

for <strong>the</strong> Open Categories. Only <strong>the</strong> names <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> competitors duly entered following <strong>the</strong><br />

above procedure will be drawn.<br />

For <strong>the</strong> Men <strong>and</strong> Women World Championships, for <strong>the</strong> Junior World Championships<br />

(men <strong>and</strong> women under 20) <strong>and</strong> for <strong>the</strong> Cadet World Championships (boys <strong>and</strong> girls<br />

under17 years) <strong>the</strong> number <strong>of</strong> entries permitted is limited:<br />
