Viking Line Testimonial
“One of our biggest challenges in Viking Line is to
offer a stable and fast enough internet connection
to our passengers.
The tests we have done together with Consilium
verify that 3G/4G technique will be a very good
complement to our satellite connections on all our
routes.
We are looking forward to expand the use to
several ships during this year”.
Antenna mounting during tests on Mariella Antenna positioning during tests on Mariella
Tests were made between Stockholm – Mariehamn – Helsinki and Helsinki – Tallin.
Temporary installations of the antennas, as shown on above pictures, were made during the tests.
During the tests we measured the download speed via Internet. We measured all types of
techniques that were connected during the routes, such as EDGE, UMTS, HSPA and HSPA+. We
also monitored the operators that were used Telia, Elisa, Telenor and Sonera. Parts of these measurements
are shown in the graphs below.
During the routes we kept online at all time via the cellular network without swopping to Satellite.
